A bruise or bruise-like mark caused by intense kissing and sucking on the skin.
Usually appear in delicate areas such as the neck, breast, or arm. How much sucking is required to cause a hickey will depend on the skin in question- on very delicate skin it may not take much at all. Also called a “love bite”.
