Scarleteen is People, Not A.I.

Scarleteen is, has been, and always will be 100% people powered!

We are not and will never be or willingly use AI, no way, no how: we create and publish only real articles written by real humans, and host real direct services provided by real people without bots or other automations.

AI is in almost everything these days, so here’s a promise from us: we never have been and never will be AI.

Scarleteen is 100% people-powered, from our articles and advice columns to direct services. Besides the toll it takes on the environment, the plagiarism it engages in by necessity, and the way things like scraping create needless work for us and others to do when we could be doing work of value instead, the work of sex and relationships education should always be careful, nuanced, and tailored work done with sensitivity and great thoughtfulness. It’s simply not something a machine can do well or responsibly.

Anything you read at Scarleteen? It’s been written, edited, and fact-checked by a real human being with years (and often decades!) of experience in sexuality, relationships and sexual health who cares passionately about inclusive, factually-accurate, and responsible sex education.

Any time you talk to someone on our boards, in chat, or via text? You can rest assured that someone is 100% human from start to finish: We do not and will not use AI agents or chat bots, ever. Bots don’t care about your safety, about accuracy, or real care, and can even create truly dangerous emotional dynamics. Everyone deserves better than bots, especially when discussing or learning about things that are so personal, so sensitive, and where your health and well-being depend on accuracy and care.

We also strongly oppose the scraping and use of our website and direct services for use in large language models and other AI training. Tech companies engaging in these practices freely admit that their business model relies on nonconsensual scraping of content and that they are not, and will never be, profitable without “free” intellectual material that is not theirs to use.

At Scarleteen, we believe in real human contact & service, not robot hallucinations, and we believe that the damage AI does to our planet and to actual people creating work is unnecessary.
