How many nerve endings are in the vagina?

Unread post by Rachel 1 »

I know that the vagina doesn't have a lot of nerve endings I don't think a lot of people really said how many nerve endings the vagina has how come people know how many nerve endings are in the clitoris but not many people people know how many are in the vagina? I can't find information about it when I look it up on Google and some females said dildos don't actually feel that good ive never actually tried a dildo so im not sure how it feels but if everyone is different will some women actually enjoy masterbating with a dildo? I actually have urine that comes out of me from stimulating the g spot so I guess I'm basically a squirter that can explain why i find it difficult to have a vaginal orgasm plus ive heard that squirting wasn't a real orgasm its just a release of pleasure that can explain why it doesn't always feel that good for me and it literally feels like im peeing. the only way to have a vaginal orgasm is rubbing the clitoris and fingering myself at the same time even if some women want to squirt sometimes I wish I wasn't a squirter because of the fact its messy and I just to experience a normal orgasm from fingering myself without peeing. a lot of women find it difficult to have a orgasm from penetration so its possible I won't be able to anyway. some women can have a orgasm from penetration they probably have really sensitive vaginas for that to happen. especially if fingering myself never was that pleasurable for me but it still feels nice. ive read that people believe someone else fingering them feels better and ive never experienced that ethier I don't know how it feels.

Hi Rachel 1,

Hmmm, I see why you had difficulties googling this- I couldn't say how many sensory nerve endings the vagina has. Research on the nerve endings of the clitoris is relatively recent, and this is an ongoing area of study. I imagine the scientists who study this will get back to us at some point with a more exact estimate of the number of nerves in the vagina.
if everyone is different will some women actually enjoy masterbating with a dildo?
You're right that everyone is different, and some people might experience more pleasure from vaginal penetration with a dildo than others.

There isn't anything bad about urinating a bit during sex, but I understand why you might prefer to avoid it. If you want to make it less likely, you could try peeing before you masturbate. And putting a towel under you should help with clean up.

If you'd like, you can read this advice column to learn more about squirting: Squirt: On Ejaculation

I want to look at some of the other conversations you've had here. Many of your posts here touch upon similar topics and questions, and I'm not sure the things we tell you are helping all that much. You mentioned your mental health difficulties in a previous discussion- would you like our help finding resources to deal with them? I agree with what Sam has said before- addressing some of these mental health concerns should help with the issues you've described around sexual pleasure.

Also, in another one of your posts, you mentioned that it would be a good idea to refrain from masturbating for a while, just until you can develop a different mindset around these topics. I think that is still a good idea. What do you think?

What resources is there to help with them? And is squirting a real orgasm? the volunteers post can be helpful especially if that one person gave good advice about masterbating before. I ask a lot of questions with my family and friends I should try to work on having an actual conversation. because some people may not want to hear so many questions I just want to ask questions but it could also be apart of curiosity as well.

Hi Rachel 1!

You could start by looking into this list of resources for anxiety, and these for OCD (1, 2). Are there any specific concerns that you'd like resources for?

To quote from that article on squirting:
ejaculating isn't orgasm. It can sometimes happen with an orgasm, but it just as commonly happens without or before orgasm, too. It has its own sensation, to be sure, but it's separate from orgasm
So, squirting is not a 'real orgasm' because it is a different thing altogether.

It isn't bad to be curious about other people, but you're right that too many questions can get overwhelming and might start to feel like an interrogation. It could help to share a bit about yourself as well or comment on what the other person has said after you ask a question. And you can try to leave space for them to ask questions of their own.

Thanks for the post about female ejaculation I was right about squirting not being a orgasm for the resources i wanted to have one about intrusive thoughts. when im washing my hands i think there's something gross on my hands the whole point of why im standing over that sink is to keep my hands clean. I don't want to keep washing my hands for so long anymore hopefully I will be okay with using two hands to hold stuff. It started at around fifteen or sixteen years old when I started wanting to wash my hands a lot. even if I know im washing my hands I may believe what im using isn't real soap so I just wash it off and put it on my hands again which can be another reason I wash my hands for minutes. I didn't like how my genitals looked i think I said that my genitals looked Deformed why does my genitals have to look like that? it just seems weird to me but I wanted to describe how my genitals look to understand why I hated how it looks. the valva does look normal it's just that on the upper part of it has these two, thick, and long skin of the clitoral hood you can probably see it more if I was shaven so I have a outie.

Hi Rachel 1

Let me assure you that your genitals cannot be deformed. There are so many ways for a vulva to look, and all of them are good. Indeed, there is nothing wrong with having an outie.

Here is a resource for intrusive thoughts.

I'm sorry that you've been having difficulties with washing your hands. I think you understand that it is enough to wash your hands once, but I know it can be difficult to internalize that. Have you spoken to your therapist about these intrusive thoughts that you're experiencing? It does seem like they could be related to your OCD.

I don't see a therapist anymore but I did have a cansoller in the past we did talk about hand washing and basically let me have this paper that written done the reasons to wash my hands and when to not wash my hands and I think my goal was to not wash them so much. I would want to wash my hands twice once instead of just leathering my hands with soap once it should be okay anyway because rub lotion on my hands after im done washing them. Also I actually have been trying to not wash my hands so much like i think I washed my hands only five times today for using the washroom, cleaning my genitals, having sour cream on my hand or taco stuff on it and washed my hands after holding my clothes that I did wear for days after a shower. I remember My hands used to have cuts because thats how dry they were but I don't have cuts now And its the clitoral hood of why I didn't like how my genitals looked and is the only reason it looked deformed to me all outies can be unique as well. Why is it that peoples faces can be deformed but not peoples genitals?

You know, Rachel, I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not a fan of the whole framework of "deformity" whether we are talking about a face or any other body parts. It's an ableist framework because it suggests there is one right way to have a body, and that there are ways that body parts are "normal" and ways they aren't. In reality -- and less ableist frameworks -- we know that there is great diversity with bodies and how they look.

As an example, I'm someone with a hand disability because I smashed and severed two of my fingers as a child. They were partially reconstructed, and so they don't look like fingers that weren't, but I wouldn't call them deformed, just disabled and different.

That all said, a visible clitoral hood is what's most typical, so I'm not sure I understand your notion that this is something unusual in the first place.

other people called some humans deformed I don't think I knew it was considered a disability for a person having a different face or body part. And when you say you don't understand that the fact that my clitoral hood is out is unusual its because its more thicker and longer than how most female clitoral hoods look on the genitals. I remember people said my genitals looked deformed as well so its not only me who thought it didn't look normal it can be rude to say that about someones private parts. also I actually got emotional from reading this post and cried since as I've said before im sensitive and that can make me feel to much guilt. I think its what you said about deformities that made me sad for some reason. Why don't most people call it a disability? I haven't heard that many people call it a disability like they would call those peoples faces that looked different a deformity that's why I called a deformity too. this is the first reading that it being called a deformity was ableist as well I didn't know you had a disability. I don't want be disrespectful just out of curiosity did you get sergery for your fingers and did it make difficult to text messages?

Hi Rachel 1,

Oh, it is so sad to hear that people around you have made such awful comments about your body and about other people. 'Deformed' is a ridiculous and cruel word. You're right, it is rude to talk like that. I think you shouldn't listen to the opinions of people who say such things.

I think it is worth talking about what disabilities are, for a moment. A disability is a condition that makes it difficult for someone to do certain activities in their life. Disabilities can affect people in different ways and in different amounts. When someone has a different face or body part, they might have a disability. For example, if someone has a facial injury, you might notice because they look different, and it may be hard for them to see or talk or eat. But people can have a different face or body part without being disabled. That is just how they look.

Unfortunately, a lot of people have negative, incorrect, and hurtful opinions about both people who look different and disabled people. Fortunately, we know better, so we don't have to act like that. We can treat people respectfully instead of calling them mean things like 'deformed'. Treating people respectfully includes treating yourself respectfully. Don't use words like that to describe yourself.
my clitoral hood is out is unusual its because its more thicker and longer than how most female clitoral hoods look on the genitals
I think it is fair to say that there are billions of people in the world with a clitoris. That is a very big amount. Given that, I wonder, how do you know how most clitoral hoods look? Has someone told you this?

Well its just because in porn it wasn't that common for the clitoral hood to be that long and thick that can be from sergery they had I know women worry about how there valvas looked too. and ive been sent nudes before from girls there genitals looked different from mine and your right I shouldn't call my genitals deformed its rude as well. I saw that there is photos of valvas on Google that was important for women who are insecure about how there valvas looked one of them looked similar to mine.

Hi Rachel!

Don't worry, I wasn't offended. I don't have a disability, though. Could your questions have been for Heather?

Listen, negative beliefs about disabled people are unfortunately widespread, and we all have to learn at some point. You don't need to feel bad.

Oh I was talking about Heather when I messaged about the hand disability i probably read the name wrong and saw it say latha above the post. And i talked about in the other post the only reason i can think of why it didn't seem common to me for labia to be similar to mine. Do you want to tell me your opinion on that? I know I did see some porn videos where the females genitals showed likeness to mine but its still not something that happens often in porn which can be from a labia plasty.

Hi Rachel,

The reason you saw labia that didn't look like yours goes back to what I said in the other thread: bodies are incredibly diverse, so what we see on ourselves versus what we see in porn versus what we see on our partners is going to reflect that diversity.

Speaking of porn, I think your continued and often pretty intense focus on it and what you see in it feels like it’s hurting rather than helping you internalize those messages I talked about in that same answer to you in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=13346. Since we don’t want to be part of that hurt, for now, we need to step away from more conversations with you about what you’re seeing in porn, okay?
