Foreskin trouble during sex

Unread post by Csl44 »

Hi, I'm 16 and just recently tried having sex without a condom, using other forms of contraception instead, however when I tried to do this after about two minutes my foreskin got stuck behind my head. I felt some discomfort at first but continued thinking it would move back by itself. It didn't, I was able to move it back quickly myself but it hurt a bit for a short while afterwards. Any idea what this could be or how to fix it?
Thankyou

Were you and your partner using plenty of lubricant?

Then that might be the place to start. Lubricant is going to make it more comfortable for both of you, and decrease unpleasant friction. You can get a lube primer here:

Ok so I have read the article and I have a few questions:
Is lube necessary during sex based on my problem?
I have never tried retracting the foreskin fully behind my head, should I?
Is it normal if I cant?

Ultimately, lube is pretty useful for sex, even if you're not having foreskin issues. But in your case, it's something to try and see if it helps remove or decrease the discomfort.

In terms of retracting the foreskin, doing so is good to practice because it helps you wash and care for your genitals in the most thorough way. As for what's normal, I'll quote from that piece:
"The amount of time this process takes varies from person to person. For 90% of people with penises, the foreskin mostly loosens and becomes moveable around age two, but this process can take five or more years for others. Sometimes, the foreskin doesn't retract completely until even later, though.

Most people, on average, are able to fully retract their foreskins by age ten, but it's also not unheard of for that process to last all the way through adolescence. The inner foreskin will remain attached to the glans in some places for a while. These attachments, called adhesions, shouldn't be broken with any kind of force; they'll break down on their own over time. Essentially, it's important to remember that -- while some variations might be much more common than others -- this process is different for everyone. The amount of time it takes varies from person to person, and it's certainly never overnight."

What if I can't fully retract it? Is there anything I can do to help this?

If you can't, you can check in with a healthcare provider, and they can help figure out ways to encourage it to retract (you can read about it in more detail in that second article).
