Mirena and periods

Unread post by Aqua »

Hi! Just a quick question about mirena. I had it inserted the same morning I got my period, and now it seems my period has completely stopped. I'm not necessarily complaining, but it's only my second day so I guess I just expected more spotting/my period to run it's course. Is this a common experience?

This may just be about you starting this new method. But lighter or more sporadic bleeding is actually also a common side effect of Mirena. So either way, this does not sound like anything out of the ordinary. Were you able to discuss all of your questions about Mirena with the doctor who inserted it for you? If you feel like you still have some questions, it would be a good idea to check back in with your doctor. It really is their job to educate you about any new drugs they prescribe for you.
