Searching for therapists in my area?

Unread post by kabith »

Hello!

I am interested in seeing a therapist because I am experiencing extremely low sexual desire (and have been for a year or so). After ruling out medications and lifestyle, I would like to talk to a therapist who is sex-positive and specializes in this kind of thing. I am having a hard time searching for this kind of specialized therapist on my insurance website. Is there another resource where I could search for therapists in my area with that kind of a focus? On Scarleteen or otherwise?

Thank you!

To clarify- I know that Scarleteen does not offer long term therapy and whatnot, and I have tried just searching the internet- I am coming here as a trusted source for a recommendation, especially since Scarleteen is based near where I live, and I hope some of those who work here would have a good starting point for me. If you are unable to post links to other websites on the forums or there are other rules, I am open to receiving PM's or other communication as well. Thank you again!

AASECT, the American Association of Sex Educators, Counsellors and Therapists is probably a good place to start looking. They have a directory of professionals on their website: https://www.aasect.org/referral-directory

If you have a sexual health clinic in your area, they may also be able to give you some suggestions.
