Yes. When a condom breaks, it tends to burst like a balloon.

Re: Plan B

How soon you can take a test depends on the individual test, but usually the earliest is 14 days after a risk.

It is very likely that filling the condom with water is what caused the breakage. It's pretty obvious when a condom breaks, so had it happened during sex, you probably would have noticed.

Re: Advice on starting a difficult conversation

The kind of diarrhea that may affect birth control is severe diarrhea where you feel like everything is just going straight through you. In that case, your pill may not be properly absorbed, especially if you go to the bathroom soon after taking it. If you only had soft stools, you should be fine!

Welcome to Scarleteen, consentquery. There are no shoulds when it comes to our feelings - however you feel about what happened, is how you feel about it. It sounds to me like you felt okay with things at the time, but in thinking about it in retrospect, you'd rather there had been more conversation ...

Welcome back, NC Lady. (Do you, by any chance, remember your old screen name? It's fine to make a new one if you locked yourself out, but having a poster's history helps us help you better!) First of all, congrats on getting help and getting out. Leaving abusive relationships is tough, and it sounds...

Re: Piggy-backing and pill effectiveness

Alright! So, provided you are taking it as directed - one pill daily, at the same time every day, no late or missed pills, you can rely on the protection once you are done with the first pack. Do keep in mind that the pill does not protect from STIs, so if you and your partner have not been tested r...

Re: Piggy-backing and pill effectiveness

Welcome to Scarleteen, bluebell!

Just to be clear - the doctor prescribed you the pill just now for the purpose of skipping your period, and you were not previously already taking birth control? Are you now taking the pill, and when did you start?

Re: Is there anyway to make my period come faster?

I am not sure why you feel like your period is not starting if you are bleeding? It's not at all unusual for a period to start more like spotting, and it seems like this is a bit of an irregular period for you anyway.

Re: Worried after first time

Itching and discomfort could be a sign of an infection, so it would be best to make an appointment with your doctor. Have you both been tested for STIs? If not, now would be a good time to get started with that, as well. If you'd like, we can also talk about what might have caused the pain you exper...

Re: Is there anyway to make my period come faster?

So what I am hearing is that you have not been charting your period correctly. That also means that there is not much of a point in trying to figure out if this one is late at all, and if yes by how much. What you will just want to do, going forward, is charting your period correctly so that you can...

Re: Feeling Leery...Condom Query

All condoms have to meet the same FDA standards, so in terms of safety there really is no difference between condoms. As long as they have not expired, they're good to go! (Using some extra lube also helps reduce the risk of breakage.)

This may just be about you starting this new method. But lighter or more sporadic bleeding is actually also a common side effect of Mirena. So either way, this does not sound like anything out of the ordinary. Were you able to discuss all of your questions about Mirena with the doctor who inserted i...

If you continuously took pills, and did not take any pills late or missed them entirely, you should not have compromised your protection with what you did. However, it is never a safe or good idea to take drugs that were prescribed to someone else. Prescription drugs can only be prescribed by a doct...

You are very welcome! I am glad this has helped make you feel a bit better. The intent of myself, and others I know who have written negatively about 50 Shades, really has never been to hurt anyone, but to help educate those who may have come to the texts with less awareness or knowledge. There is a...

As Edith said, they need their own fluids. Sperm cells are very particular, they are not content with just any fluid. They need ejaculatory fluid to move around in.

I am very sorry that you felt insulted by such negative reviews of the book series, and I want to start by saying (at ...

If the pack is not broken, this should not be a problem. The packaging is supposed to protect the pill, so unless it's damaged in some way, it should have been doing its job.

Re: Scared of sexual interaction

Have you been able to talk to your partner about your fears? Perhaps hearing from him what expectations he has can put you at ease.

But also, sometimes it can be important to listen to our fears and accept them as a sign that we are not quite ready yet to do the thing we are afraid of.

Plan B can throw your cycle out of whack for a few months, so unfortunately there's no real way to predict what your periods will look like or when they'll show up. You'll just have to take it as it comes.

For myself and my own identifcation, I don't really have much use for the concept of gender. I can't really say "I identify as man/woman/etc" because to me, there are no feelings connected to those words. I happen to have been assigned female at birth, and I like a lot of stuff that's pret...
