Re: Getting over it/him

I have enough time for necessities, so I don't know.

I don't think it's likely that I will, but thanks.

I should definitely be doing that more. Thanks for the strategy.

Yeah, I guess I'll be able to wait until it goes away. Thanks.

Re: Getting over it/him

Redskies- Thanks. I understand that it might just not be in the cards for me right now to have a connection like that with anyone- part of why I yearn to go to a very selective college is so that I can hope to meet more people who I can identify with- but I don't agree with putting more 'give' into ...

Re: Getting over it/him

(By "understands me", I mean someone who processes things the same way I do- not that we have the same view or opinions, but who approaches situations in the same way. The best example of this was that I pay a lot of attention to everything, so I'm the first one to laugh at jokes, instantl...

Re: Getting over it/him

I would be interested in doing those things, but I don't know how I can go about doing them- there's nobody in my life that can understand me the way that he did (it's wrong for me to say, but he's the most intelligent person I've ever known, and that makes a huge difference), I'm prohibitively busy...

Re: Getting over it/him

I guess he's the only one that understood me (which is why he was able to dismantle me so efficiently, I guess) and even when I'm with other people, I'm lonely without him.

Re: Getting over it/him

I don't just mourn the good times we had, though, and I don't really think about my relationships since him (even though I just had a breakup like two weeks ago, and even when I was with this newer guy over the summer, I still thought about my ex), but he's often on my mind. If I didn't think he wou...

Re: Getting over it/him

I understand why I'm still afraid of him, but I still have moments where all I want to do is ask him to take me back, even after all that's happened. Is that a common phenomenon, or am I just being emotionally weak and codependent?

Re: Getting over it/him

Just....why him? I've been in several relationships since, which have lasted nearly as long, were nearly as serious, and weren't so dysfunctional; but he's the only one I can't get over. Why?

Re: Getting over it/him

He did a lot of things that he shouldn't have, but he's gone now; 1600 miles away. i just feel like it's unreasonable of me to start having flashbacks (I didn't while I was regularly seeing him, either dating or in school) now, and especially since I've dated and done stuff with other people since h...

Getting over it/him

So my first serious relationship, which lasted six months and ended about a year ago, was with a guy whom I had had a crush on for nearly a year before, and thought was the One. I think it was two or three months in when being in a relationship with him made me really depressed- I think it was becau...

Re: I'm struggling with how I feel about sex

This discussion did begin with a sort-of relationship question, but I'm sorry for having wasted so much more of your time. Thank you for everything.

Re: I'm struggling with how I feel about sex

I realized that repeating the idea in my mind that I am worthless, useless, and hated by everyone makes the panic stop. I don't know why it's so effective, but I'd imagine it will only work until that becomes my dominant perception of myself again. Okay. That article rings pretty true for me, and th...

Re: I'm struggling with how I feel about sex

I have methods, but they'll only work for a little while until my self-esteem gets too low for it to be effective.

I'm prone to downplaying the problems when I'm having an attack, but I've stopped trying to isolate myself, so I don't think it should be so bad anymore. Sorry.

Re: I'm struggling with how I feel about sex

I'm really sorry, i just don't have anywhere else I feel I can talk about this, but then the feelings of panic make me want to minimize what's going on so that you'll tell me to go away, and I'll be more miserable. I'm trying to figure out how much is true, but it's hard, because the thing with the ...

Re: I'm struggling with how I feel about sex

I backed down on a lot of the anxiety, because I was sometimes posting in the middle of an attack, and would minimize how I was feeling in order to feel less guilty about posting here. I was sort of vague in the original post about how he did the things he did, and since it had just happened, I was ...

Re: I'm struggling with how I feel about sex

Well, he talks *about* me, and occasionally *at* me, but he hasn't texted me in a while. I mentioned it because there's a very small chance that he'll randomly text me again. I told him to stop a long time ago, but I don't know if that counts. I really don't think what he's doing is enough to consti...

Re: I'm struggling with how I feel about sex

He doesn't talk to me much anymore, and usually only texts her to complain about his life. I'm not sure if it would be considered harassment. I don't know if what he's doing is clear enough to make a case for. It's hurtful to me, because I can sense the parallelism between what he said to me in priv...

Re: I'm struggling with how I feel about sex

It seems to be compatible with the operating system, I appreciate it. I tried to ask him to stop before (about five and a half months ago) and even when the school officials saw the messages, they asked him about his feelings rather than feeling he was really in the wrong. My friend is nervous to do...

Re: I'm struggling with how I feel about sex

I don't have a way to block him on my phone. It's not the main number I use, and he hasn't sent anything in a while, but I don't think a way exists (it's not a particularly advanced phone). Sorry it's such a long thread, I just keep coming up with related things to ask about.

They won't do anything, and the messages all mention that I sent him inappropriate text messages when we were together, so I don't think they would be helpful.

Re: I'm struggling with how I feel about sex

He's in one of my math classes, and also began texting my best friend (originally in order to ask her out, then to try and guilt her into changing her mind because I asked her to say no, and now to complain about his life and intimidate her into acting nice). He hasn't texted me in a while, but the ...
