Upcoming Events

MAY

Seattle, WA: Wednesday May 27, 2009
First Annual GHS Sex & Relationship Summit
For Garfield students only. The Garfield High School Sex & Relationship Summit is a day-long event geared toward African & African-American students. This event was created in response to the academic and social distractions, the many conflicting value systems, media assumptions, images and lack of holistic information around black sexuality within American culture. Our goal is to educate and increase student awareness around the choices and responsibilities related to sexuality and relationships, as well as to deconstruct stereotypes around expectations.

The Summit will provide a forum in which students can safely explore their questions and concerns around intimate relationships. The workshops and presenters have been chosen to facilitate and promote a better understanding of the role of sexuality, sensuality and emotional intimacy in healthy, informed, and self-referenced relationships.
