I've really been thinking about getting labia minora surgery. Only one of them is slightly larger than the other, but it drives me absolutely crazy and it can be uncomfortable physically and emotionally. I need advice on the steps I should take in getting the surgery, how much it would cost and if insurance will cover it? Sometimes I think cutting it off myself would be easier, numbing it or something and letting it heal.I know it sounds crazy but could there be any chance that my larger labia is unhealthy? I've been so insecure of it for several years. Thanks

I would like to say. your labia is beautiful the way it is. I can assure you that everyone's labia look different , but they are still beautiful.
honestly i think yours are perfect the way they are. Are you sure you want to get surgery on them, knowing that there are so many nerves there that allow you to feel more pleasure, getting surgery done may mean loosing some of those nerve and having less sensation.
DO NOT attempt any surgery yourself, you will regret it. If you decide you absolutely want a procedure done PLEASE go to a medical professional!
Have you seen a gynae, or a doctor before. Ask them to examine your labia for themselves. It might reassure you if they think you are perfectly normal.
Once again i urge you not to attempt cutting yourself, or your risk some SERIOUS HURT and injury

Thank you, but I really would like to get rid of it . I really don't have a whole lot of feeling in that side particularly. I think the reason for that is, when I first discovered myself at a young age, I noticed they were made of like stretchy skin, so I'd pull on them, particularly the one that is slightly bigger (now). I think thats the whole reason its the way it is. Could that be possible? I think it brings down my self esteem, because I am always thinking about it. I'm worried my boyfriend has a problem with it or thinks its gross or something. He said his ex girlfriend didn't have any at all. Is that common???. On me the one is a little bigger than the other and its extremely awkward and can be uncomfortable. I'd do anything to just trim it down a little bit. I know I'm making it seem worse than it is, but it makes me so self conscious.....

What you've described really does sound normal to me. We've had a lot of discussion about this in the past, so why don't you read through these links?

I think we've said all we can here, and what we are not are cosmetic surgeons.
Sp, if this is earnestly something you want to pursue, then the people to talk to moving forward are cosmetic surgeons. To do that, you look them up, call in, make an appointment for a consultation and then find out what all of that means (including the risks), what it will cost you and everything else and make your own choices from there.
