Contraceptive methods

Unread post by Alester »

Hi there,
I already asked a question recently but I just have one more!
I know that no form of birth control can 100% prevent pregnancy, but I was wondering if you are using both the combined pill as instructed (never missing it or taking it late) and also using a condom, should you feel pretty confident that you can be protected from pregnancy?
Thanks so much

Hey Alester,

No worries! We are always glad to answer more questions :)

It sounds like you're right on the nose. Using two kinds of contraception -- particularly when marrying a barrier method with hormonal birth control (or a non-hormonal IUD) -- is always going to be your safest bet.

Have you already read this article? It talks specifically about pairing different methods and their efficacy! It's actually kind of amazing in its specificity. According to that article, here is the efficacy rate of pairing birth control pills with external ("male") condoms:
Combination OCP + Male Condoms = 99.99% effective with perfect use - 98.7% effective with typical use
