menstrual cup sterilization machine

If it doesn't seem to fit anywhere else, this is probably the place for it.

menstrual cup sterilization machine

Unread post by iloveeveryone »

Hello!!

I have questions about buying a sterilizer machine for my cup to use in college.

1. Is this "exposing to steam" method of cleaning, as good as actually putting the cup in boiling water?

2. The machine companies do not say to what temperature the water will boil and produce steam. Is this fine?

Thank you so much!!

Hey iloveeveryone -- the steamer machines are relatively newer to the market so I'm leaning a little bit heavier on the information I can find online to answer your question and weeding out sources that are clearly biased towards their own product. It sounds like these little machines do work pretty well, and are meant to help prevent scorching your cup in boiling water. I'm also seeing that some of these steamers do not include temperature information - personally, this is a read flag for me because I would prefer to know that so I can feel confident it's actually doing what it's supposed to, but generally I am not seeing a lot of negative press.

Do you know what brand of cup you use? They might have specific cleaning suggestions or may even sell their own steamer meant for their cups.

Yes, that is true! Thank you! I think I will buy this Softcup company steamer on Amazon that seems to be good from reviews despite not having temperature information given. I need a machine like this if I want to use my cup in college! Should I take some more time to decide if I want to use this machine despite not knowing if it is actually as good as boiling?

Hi iloveeveryone,

You may want to contact the company that manufactures your cup first (most product sites have ways for people to ask questions), to see if they recommend that those steamers be used to clean their cups or if they suggest that boiling will be better for the longevity of the cup.

Hello!!!

It is good! I used it once until now, next month will be my second time.

It is convenient because I don't have a microwave in college to boil the cup. And you just plug in the machine, put water in it and put the cup in to boil.
