I'm back. Thankfully, I was switched back to days unexpectedly for a couple weeks, so I was able to get an appointment with her for thursday. Hopefully for at least part of my session we can talk about options for when I leave school. I actually did do a couple posts on the journal, but to be honest...

The only song that Immediately came to mind was "Bring me to Life" by Evanescence. I still love that song to this day.
It was just so desperate and dramatic in a beautiful sort of way that really resonated with me at that age, and 12 years later it still doesn't get old.

I need to start looking for one, or get a referral, or something. To be honest, though, a big part of me wants to sort of fix things myself. And not from a "I don't need anyone and do't need help" sort of way but more of an "I'm sick of my progress being at the mercy of awful doctor' ...

Not really, to be honest. Maybe it's worth contacting her to see, though. The way it typically works is that we make appointments during the student health clinic. And about half of the appointments I've managed to make so far have been cancelled by the office to make room for people with more acute...

I guess you're right in a lot of ways. I just feel like it's bene 5 years, and if I don't do SOME small, gradual steps towards "building a door", nothing is going to change. For the first time, I feel like I have quite a bit of time to be properly introspective, but a lot of that takes pla...

Lately, life has been this bizarre combination of great/new/exciting and scary/isolating. I am finally in the last semester of my education, which for my program means that I only go to clinicals and not classes. So, I’ve been working 40-45 hours a week, but I no longer get to see any of my friends ...

A few weeks ago my apartment was doing a construction project on the building next to mine. Every morning, when I'd leave my apartment to walk to my car, I'd have workers staring. On a couple occasions, I'd literally have to walk out with no less than 10 guys just standing there staring at me like I...

Hi, I just wanted to chime in that you're not alone. I don't know exactly what age, but from the time I fully understood the role of a parent, I have never wanted to be one. I was probably in my mid-teens when I figured this out. Now I'm 25, and nothing's changed. Like you, I get people telling me t...

I think that most people of all ages understand love itself, but there are some other things that surround love that need to be learned. Things like how to interact with a partner, healthy relationships, boundaries, that you can love someone who's really bad for you, etc, etc. So, while everyone kno...

Wow, I'd actually forgotten about this post. I guess the thing is, I was wondering if maybe the anxiety was because I did have limitations regarding orientation, and that trying to go outside those limits was causing the anxiety. But I guess either way, it doesn't matter. Whether orientation is caus...

I first heard the word demisexual here a few months ago, and I have to say, it really resounded with me. I fit a lot of the descriptions. I haven’t had any kind of relationship (not so much as a kiss) in over 4 years. Most of the time I don’t miss it. Especially now, when I don’t have a specific per...

I would say it's a cultural thing, but it varies so much, even between families. For me personally, other than hugs, I generally have no desire to touch someone outside of sexual attraction. My mom and brother, on the other hand, are so touchy-feely. It's totally normal for them to walk with their a...

Here's a couple I can think of off the top of my head: I wish my mother wouldn't say negative things about people's bodies, mostly herself and celebrities. Even if she doesn't say negative things about mine, I sometimes find myself feeling like she judges my body when I see how she talks about other...

Sorry it’s been so long! I had 2 tests and a clinical last week, so I got kind of distracted. But I haven’t forgotten our discussion! I officially stopped restricting my diet the day I posted. I almost feel like a part of the issue was that after all those anti-fat lectures, I just needed to get per...

Yeah' I've tried Yoga a few times, but I don't tend to have the patience for it. The poses tend to be kind of awkward and uncomfortable for me, and I never stick with it. I also always have a hard time keeping my mind there. I actually do enjoy going on walks, and have taken few in my neighborhood. ...

Also, those were a really interesting read, Keda. The thing is, though, one of the main things they teach in nursing school is how to prioritize. Even with the model that fat=bad, all of those cases were very poorly prioritized by any halfway decent doctor/nurse, even with bias. But you are right. T...

The healthy eating thing is something I need to consider more. While I probably SHOULD keep the exercise in my life, I really don’t eat badly. I dislike most fast food, and I very rarely eat fried stuff. In fact, other than the fact that I tend to go overboard on desserts, I’d really consider myself...

Thanks for responding, Heather! I look forward to hearing more from you tomorrow! Honestly, most of my coping with the whole thing before hasn't been too successful. The biggest thing, after reading HAES, was to go with my whole conspiracy theory that the diet industry is paying off the medical and ...

Lately I’ve kind of found myself in a bad place body-image wise. Over the Christmas break, I stepped onto a scale at my parent’s house and realized that I gained 10 pounds over the last semester. Honestly, the way I’d been eating, it’s a surprising it wasn’t more. However, that brings my grand total...

The biggest thing for me is to place yourself around people that you actually have things in common with. I've always been a city girl at heart, but I've lived in small towns ranging from "sorta conservative" to "ultra conservative" all my life. As a pretty liberal minority who l...

I think you really described it well, as always, Heather! I really think it does go way beyond teens thinking in a "younger= gross" thing. When I was in high school, It was completely acceptable for a senior guy to date a freshman. But I never saw that happen the other way around, and I kn...

So, earlier today I was thinking about the double standards regarding age gaps between guys and girls, and thought it could be a good topic to discuss. The other day, a friend of mine (girl) who is dating a guy 4 years older than her made a comment that dating a guy just a year younger would be “gro...

It's funny that you mention this because I just found my diva cup in storage while I was cleaning. This was kind of short lived for me. I cut off the entire stem, and I still had issues with the tip sticking out of my vagina and irritating the opening. I'd like to try it again, though. Does anyone h...
