Re: Double Standards Regarding Age Gaps

My sense, Atonement (it's been so nice to see you back around, btw!) is that when it comes to the sexism in these double-standards, it's not really that only women dating younger men - and of course, hello heterocentrism with all of this -- is seen as predatory, but that many, if not most, cultures ...

Re: Pain and itching after protected sex?

Ultimately, you just are going to have to wait this out. In the meantime, you can try a cool bath (no bubble bath or other bath stuff, which often irritates genitals), making sure you are wearing loose clothing, including undergarments, made of natural fibers, and/or a little aloe vera gel (but only...

Re: New relationship

The way I see it is that I don't know what I like/don't like all that well, so by letting him guide the direction within my limits allows me to get a sense for what he likes and experience different things, at which point I can speak up if that's not what I want. I guess I feel like I don't really ...

Re: looking for information?

Again, this is something your prescribing physician has the answer to. What they suggest is what you, as a patient, follow. And if ever you find you have a healthcare provider where you don't feel confident with their advice, then it's time to switch to one where you do.

We're very clear in our user guidelines about what results in a ban, as well as the fact that we don't just ban people outright out of nowhere. :) No need for anyone here to have that concern.

Too, what do YOU want? For instance, you two could negotiate opening up your relationship so you stay together in so e respects but both explore dating others, within negotiated limits. Or, you could talk about a breakup, if all of any of this is outside what you want, or, of course, if the way he i...

Re: Disoriented

This all sounds utterly wretched, and I am so sorry you're in the midst of it. :( Realistically speaking, this is one of those things that you certainly could report, but chances are, it will not even get filed. So, that is something I would think about per reporting: if it would still feel like the...

Re: Affection vs Sex

I absolutely agree that romantic and sexual relationships being brand new to you is a huge factor here. By all means, it is very hard to figure out what is and is not healthy, and too, I'd say, what is intensity, and what is just messed up. I think all of what you said here is really good stuff and ...

There really isn't something like that that is complete and public access, no. Ultimately, your prescribing physician, with either medication is whose words you want to give the most weight to.

Re: looking for information?

How about you just play it safe and back up? That way you don't have to try and do a bunch of research, especially if you keep getting conflicting sources, and can just cover your bases, easy, with no worries.

As I recall, you're in a new relationship, so condom use is a must, anyway.

Re: Disoriented

It's not unreasonable to ask for your own stuff and your own spaces, no. We get to do that with anyone we live or share things with. So, you just ask to sit down and sort out some break-up practical odds and ends, is all, saying it's mostly about stuff and just making living in the same space, if th...

Even with vomiting, two hours after taking the pill is not going to present issues. Almost everyone's digestive systems work much faster than that.

Re: Early bleed on pill

I'd say a pretty good rule of thumb in life is that when something seems outlandish, it probably is. :)

If you swallowed your pill fine when you took it hours before, not only would it no longer be in your throat, you've also likely fully metabolized it by then.

I also wanted to mention that it's really unfortunate your stepmother passed on that stereotype to you, though it's something we have unfortunately seen parents do a LOT, especially when it comes to stereotypes about men and sex. Sadly, what it most often reflects are their own personal experiences,...

Re: Mini pills and periods

With any kind of oral contraceptive, it often takes a few cycles for placebo periods and withdrawal bleeds to sync up and to become regular. It can take longer, or things can be wonkier, if before you began a pill you did not have regularc cycles., which is common for younger people. If you finish y...

Was what you saw brownish? If so, know that periods sometimes present with that color, and flow also tends to become darker and browner on tampons or pads, too. Your bowel is not connected to your vagunal canal, so fecal matter cannot just wind up in there unless someone has done something like had ...

Re: confused about birth control pill, protected or not?

Just to be clear, the standard with starting the pill at times other than a day one or Sunday start (on or before the Sunday after a periods begins) is one full cycle of backup, not seven days. That 7 day suggestion is for those doing a day one or Sunday start. And using condoms is using a backup, s...
