Re: Early sign of abuse or something else?

Hi! I'm revisiting this post since well, it seemed like I would be fine but I'm unsure? It's been over a year since this, but I'm still struggling with things? I'm not sure why I'm sad or feel whatever I'm feeling right now. I really don't have much to complain about. I had a very disturbing dream l...

Re: Early sign of abuse or something else?

Hey Amanda,

I did visit a therapist who helped me quite a bit. I'm not with him anymore so it's all good I guess. I still miss him and I'm not over the whole grieving process but I guess I'll get done with it eventually. Thanks for checking in!

Re: Early sign of abuse or something else?

I have emailed them and hope to get a reply soon. Until then I have an appointment with my university counselor tomorrow so hopefully, that turns out okay. Is it normal to feel apprehensive about leaving him? Like I'm making a mistake and that I'm going to lose a good thing in my life on purpose? Li...

Re: Early sign of abuse or something else?

Thanks for the response. I was really close to just giving up on the whole thing and I suspect it won't be the only time until I get it done with. I do have counseling at my university and will be going there soon. They don't have anything dedicated to domestic violence and in terms of legal counsel...

Re: Early sign of abuse or something else?

Okay, the reality of it all just kinda hit me. It's like it's coming in waves. I don't know if I'll be able to do it. I don't know if I want to do it. He never did anything like this until now. Could it have been a one off?

Re: Early sign of abuse or something else?

I'm also worried he might try to harm himself. If he does something drastic and pins the blame on me, as far as I know, the law will blame me first as a precautionary measure and then I'd have to go through all of that. My parents do not know I'm with him, and it will be a little hell if they do som...

Re: Early sign of abuse or something else?

Hi SpaceCowboy,

Yes, it was terrifying. I was surprised I could even comfort him after all of it because all I wanted to do was distance myself from the whole thing, but I guess it was some instinctive response to keep him and myself safe.

Re: Early sign of abuse or something else?

Hey horrible goose, Thank you for your response. I have decided to leave him, although it's still hard to wrap my head around the whole situation. I guess it will get better with time. I am as safe as I can be right now and I am taking steps to keep it that way. Thank you for keeping me in your thou...

Re: Early sign of abuse or something else?

Hi Amanda, I'm glad to be back, but I wish they were under better circumstances. I feel my doubts being validated once I read all the replies since my friends don't have enough experience to say something so definite and they didn't want to push me towards a decision that might be incorrect. It's un...

Early sign of abuse or something else?

Hey guys. I never thought I would ever have to analyze a relationship like this but something happened like two days ago that got me really shaken up and I'm hoping some outside perspective would help me out. Strap in, it's a little long. So I've been dating this guy for over 3 years now. Thought I ...

Re: Am I taking him for granted?

I spoke to him about it and he says he said it in the heat of the moment because of what I said. He says he didn't mean it but according to me when you say things in the moment it generally stems from some truth. I also told him if there was anyway to make it up to him or change anything about the w...

Am I taking him for granted?

I've been in a relationship with this guy I met on Tinder for a little over a year. Lately we've been arguing a little more than usual and I've been feeling a little distant. Back story: He comes from a broken family. His dad cheated on his mother and left the family/ got kicked out, although he doe...

Re: I keep hurting others, unintentionally

Sorry for the late reply, have been caught up in work. I have been trying to take time to meet the counselor, but that hasn't happened yet. I will try again this week, hopefully it works out. She did apologize to me, but didn't promise it won't happen again. Her apology went something like, I'm sorr...

Re: I keep hurting others, unintentionally

Well I tried talking to her today, and it didn't really work out. She was snappy and maintained that she took the right stance and refused to look at things from my perspective. I didn't want to fight over it again so I let it go, but speaking about it again made me feel really guilty again although...

Re: I keep hurting others, unintentionally

My roommate did scream at me and try to purposely hurt me (verbally) in her anger, and I don't know what to do if she'd do that again, considering the fact that it has been only a few weeks. She said things that she thought might hurt me, such as criticize some of my quirks. I feel apprehensive of t...

Re: I keep hurting others, unintentionally

I do come from a spiritual and religious background, so I do meditate and do yoga. I am getting much better at controlling and understanding where my temper comes from, and I'm happy about that. I would also like to figure out how to calm someone else down and not be in the same position again, beca...

Re: I keep hurting others, unintentionally

In general I don't, but ever since she(my roommate) yelled at me I realized it makes me feel trapped since I can't defend myself. Both my roommate and I are short tempered, her more than me, and apparently I control it better. Because of this both of us could elevate the problem cause I can't contro...

Re: How prepared did you feel for getting your first period?

Well, a friend of mine had got her first period a month or two before me, so she filled me in about all of the details. I didn't really tell my mother about it, even though she had given me a vague background about it. Also I have a sister who's 9 years older to me, so I caught on pretty early that ...

Re: I keep hurting others, unintentionally

No, it doesn't have anything to do with my roommate since teasing is common in our circle. Even they contribute to it when I'm the target (I don't mind since its all light hearted). Actually, my roommate and the other girl relate to each other better since they both come from small cities. It's weir...

I keep hurting others, unintentionally

So, I've moved away from home thanks to college, and live with a roommate. There's this other girl who keeps hanging out in our room since she doesn't have a roommate and we tend to joke about how she intrudes. She told us that she doesn't like it after internalizing for days, and so we stopped. Tod...

Re: Indirect slut shaming resulting in withdrawal.

I did what you suggested and I did get a few friends to hang out with me. When I spoke about it to them they were supportive and did boost up my morale and self-esteem quite a bit, so that was great. I feel much better right now, although I do still feel a little guilty about being attracted to some...

Re: What body part could you make peace with to improve your life?

(Actually I'm quite used to it and it doesn't affect me much. But it would be fun to banter about it other than just gloating about being able to sleep on my stomach. Thank you for being concerned though :) )

Re: Indirect slut shaming resulting in withdrawal.

Hello ashleah, I do have a few friends outside this circle, except they are generally busy with their own lives and so we can't really hang out. It's probably annoying that I'm being negative about every solution, and I'm sorry about that. Thank you for your help! I can't seem to find one on my own ...

Re: Indirect slut shaming resulting in withdrawal.

Hello! I'll definitely try that out. There are 2 people who are a lot more open, but they have a different social circle which has been together for longer than they've known me so I can't really call them my friends. It seems like the only option is to distance myself from everyone and be a little ...

Re: What body part could you make peace with to improve your life?

Well, I've always wanted to make peace with my breasts. They are quite small, a size B to be precise, and making peace with it would be really nice. I'd be able to accept that people who are interested in me, especially males, actually like me regardless of my size and aren't lying to me about it ou...
