Re: It’s time to come off birth control

Thanks horriblegoose! I’m hoping a bit of weight will also come off :( I have a phone appt on Friday with a Dr, what do I say if they try and persuade me to keep it in longer? I’ve only had it in 9 months and I do feel bad for wasting NHS money getting it out already :( but I’ve had two others...

Re: It’s time to come off birth control

We’ve actually already had that kind of discussion. I’d like to bring the conversation back to birth control if that’s okay, I would be interested to hear peoples real life experiences of coming off hormonal birth control, particularly the implant if anyone has a story to share?

Re: It’s time to come off birth control

Omg I totally forgot to mention I am actually vaccinated  Thanks for those! I’ve had a read through, I’m open to anything except penetrative sex, we sometimes just do oral, or I think it’s called tribadism? Dry humping without clothes lol and I can normally get off on just that. I use toys, I m...

Re: It’s time to come off birth control

i had a read of the articles but the thought of them makes me feel weird  yeah definitely, because I’m so anxious he doesn’t enjoy sex either, so it will be better for both of us to just stick to non-penetrative activities I think. Do you have any articles on making a sex life based around thos...

Re: It’s time to come off birth control

Hi Alice! Thanks for getting back to me :) I’ve always found sex painful, due to upbringing I still have negative feelings regarding sex (eg super religious fanatical beliefs being forced on me), so I know it’s likely a tension thing, but I remember being so disappointed the first time that it wasn’...

It’s time to come off birth control

Hi! I haven’t been here a while, and before I start I am 25 and I know your policy is younger people come first so that’s fine I don’t mind waiting for an answer :) I’ve been on nexplanon now for 6 years and about 8 months. Recently, I’ve started to feel it’s time I come off it. But I don’t want to ...

Re: Birth control and liver

I asked the nurse and she confirmed it was a non issue :) Isn’t it funny, a few years ago I was worried about pregnancy scares, and now I’m worried about liver functions and smear tests! Ooh one other question, my arm is slightly itchy where I had the implant replaced...is that a common side effect ...

Re: Birth control and liver

Okay thanks Sam W :)

Is the main concern then that if you already have liver problems, then the active hormone in the implant won’t be metabolised and used by the body properly?

Birth control and liver

Hello! Well it’s been a while since I’ve been here:D I’m due to get my implant changed tomorrow, just wondering what the deal is with birth control and liver problems? Re: Nexplanon side effects

Hi Sam

So I went to see a Dr and he wasn't very worried, just prescribed some hydrocortisone cream and said use as and when needed. Although funnily enough it's not happened since I went to see the Dr

Nexplanon side effects

Hi guys. I know you don't replace the advice of a healthcare professional but I thought I'd see what you say before I go and make an appointment. I had my nexplanon replaced last July and haven't had any major problems up until the past couple of months. The end at which my implant was inserted on a...

Re: Soy interactions?

I get what you're saying about the counselling, but me and my counsellor have explored my issues with sex, there comes a point where it's wasn't a productive use of either of our time to continue because I know why I fear sex, I know the reasons behind it (religious reasons etc) so it really didn't ...

Re: Soy interactions?

I don't know what my remaining options are. I've had counselling, which I had for a considerable amount of time, and it did help alot, however, there comes a point where to keep focusing on the same issues keeps me in a stuck place. There wasn't really much else to explore with my counselling so tha...

Re: Soy interactions?

In answer to your questions: 1. I am not currently having the kinds of sex that require a condom 2. I think so :P pretty much read every patient and dr information leaflets, medical papers, everything there is to read on it 3. Yes 100% 4. I thought that choosing other kinds of sex would make me feel...

Soy interactions?

Hi everyone :) Just want to bounce a question off you guys..I've started drinking soya milk as a way to be dairy free, and my manager at work said that soy messes with your hormones? I have nexplanon so firstly is this true? And secondly would it be an interaction with my nexplanon? I've read my pat...

Re: STI testing

Thankyou for taking the time to reply Redskies and Jacob! I thought that I could refuse a pregnancy test, just thought I'd check though. A few years ago I went to hospital and they did a urine test and my permission wasn't asked, it wasn't till the nurse came back with the test already done that I k...

Re: STI testing

Yes it does, thanks!

So are you saying that I can specify if I want a pregnancy test or not? And even if they do pregnancy tests as part of the screening am I allowed to say I don't want it?

Also, where can I pick up another DIY chlamidya kit? Will my GP surgery offer them?

STI testing

Hi everybody! Back again! :P I have some questions about STI testing. I have never had a proper test before, only a diy chlamidya test which you send off to get your results. I am in a new relationship and have agreed with my boyfriend that we will both get tested before having sexual intercourse. H...

An update, I started bleeding, and the tenderness is nearly all gone, so I'm guessing it is probably related in some way :)

Re: Breast Tenderness

Aah okay. I'm very stressed again so I suppose that could be a cause. It normally comes before bleeding, thats why I figured they may be part of the same thing. Haha it's okay I got you about the bra thing ;) Only thing is I am quite a generous cup size, sometimes those stretchy sporty bras just mak...

Re: Breast Tenderness

The paracetamol is an over the counter medicine, so I just took it from my cupboard at home hoping it would do something to help. I'm pretty sure it is to do with the implant, Am I right in thinking things like bleeding and breast tenderness can increase the closer you get to implant removal time? I...

Breast Tenderness

Just wondering if anyone had any remedies for breast tenderness? I am getting to the end of my 3 years on the implant and am finding an increase in breast tenderness and bleeding :( I've read somewhere that the herb agnus castus is a good one to try, but is there anything else? Paracetamol is provin...
