Re: What Constitutes Dysphoria? Does it End?

Thanks for the replies, everyone. It's been reassuring to read about your experiences and realize that it's common for dysphoria to wax and wane, but that the come-and-go quality of those feelings doesn't make what I feel less valid. I don't think my dysphoria comes from how other people perceive me...

What Constitutes Dysphoria? Does it End?

Hi all, As someone who was assigned female at birth (AFAB), I've often struggled with feeling not all together comfy in my body. Growing up, I thought this was because I didn't fit with the way media presented femininity to me. I felt and acted more "boyish," but I didn't feel particularly...

LGBT Films Centering People of Color

Hi all, I read through a previous post on this board about LGBT films that don't end tragically. I really liked the conversation that emerged from it and it reminded me of a few Twitter threads and online discussions I'd seen in other forums about highlighting LGBT films about people who aren't whit...

Re: LGBT books/movies that don't end in tragedy

A graphic memoir I read called Genderqueer by Maia Kobabe has a mostly optimistic ending and a light tone. The illustration is also *chef's kiss.* In terms of movies, The Handmaiden (2016) is a period drama set in Japan-occupied Korea which is really slickly composed and ends happily for our queer w...

Re: How has your gender expression evolved?

hey Sam, like you, when i was younger, i was really worried about being perceived as too feminine. i think there was definitely some internalized misogyny at work. i thought things that were pink or frilly were vapid or would make me appear like the teen movie caricature of the "stupid girl.&qu...

Re: Disassociation and dysphoria?

Hi Raffles, I read your posts and just wanted to drop in to say I can relate. First, gender identity is such a can or worms, but I think what you've described here is how me and lot of folks I know who identify outside the binary often feel. I've also been discovering more about how I identify in re...

Re: I feel like sometimes I will never be attractive for a girl

hi sabine, i can't emphasize enough what the other folks who've responded have said. i wanted to pop into this conversation to say, again, that you are definitely not alone in how you feel. i'm an in-between sizes fat person who can't always find their size in a plus size sections, but who also has ...
