The Audre Lorde Project is a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Two Spirit and Transgender People of Color center for community organizing, focusing on the New York City area. Through mobilization, education and capacity-building, we work for community wellness and progressive social and economic justice. A slippery slope (er, pole?)

What do you guys think of the classes offered now that teach stripper moves and pole dancing primarily as a form of exercise? I am taking a class called Cardio Stripfit right now where we learn stripper moves as well as do some aerobics. I find it really fun and physically challenging and it is not as though I plan on performing these moves for the world. However, some people find the classes demeaning. -ST user

Society has come a long way from the stereotypical 1950's gender roles, and while we aren't /quite/ there yet, we're pretty darn close. An ad campaign such as the ones Burger King puts out just sets us back half a decade; to the commercials with women waiting at the door with a martini and steak all set for her husband. This thread is all about how gender roles and sexuality relate to what we're eating.

Blank Noise seeks to recognize eve teasing as street sexual harassment and establish it as an issue. Eve teasing may be normal, but is it acceptable?
