Jane’s Abortion Ban Reality: An interview with Jane’s Due Process’ HK Gray

Jane’s Due Process is an abortion fund in Texas that expressly supports young people. HK Gray was a young person helped by Jane’s Due Process, and who later joined their ranks as an organizer. HK has experienced many ordeals before, during and after her pregnancy, and understands from both professional and personal points of view exactly how disastrous a law like Senate Bill 8 (SB8), which you might know as the Texas Abortion Ban, can be.

This Isn’t Going to Be Your Forever

Because of the global COVID-19 pandemic, in many households, the strains of closed schools, lost jobs, health issues, and close quarters mean that tensions are high, tempers are short, and privacy has become a luxury. Coping During COVID-19

Just like we do when there's not a global pandemic, all of us here at Scarleteen have been thinking a whole lot about all of you lately. Here are some updates about our services and some extra support we can offer, as well as some helps, tips and words from some of our staff to you to help get you through this.

We're Taking an End of Year Break

We normally make ourselves available over the holidays when many other organizations are closed, but this year we're going ahead and giving all of our staff a holiday break.  We've had such a hard year, like so many, and time for all who work so hard here to rest and regroup at the end of it is necessary so we can keep doing our work well and do needed self-care.

From Emily, Who Really Gets It.

Eleven years have gone by since I first came to Scarleteen as a very frightened, very lost sixteen year-old who had nowhere else to go and was ready to give up altogether.

I don't remember now what I wrote or what I asked for. But I will never forget seeing a response from Heather which read "I believe you, and I care."

Scarleteen Direct Service Response Time Changes

Just a quick update about a change starting at Scarleteen, for those who use our direct services.

With both our message boards and text service, we have told our users for many years now that they can expect a reply from a staff member or volunteer within 24 hours, though most have usually received replies more quickly than that, often even within minutes at certain times of day.
