Submit a Question

Just a few tips before you post

  • If your question is any kind of emergency or is very time-sensitive -- for example, if you have a possible pregnancy risk, if you need help getting safe from someone now, or if you simply need your question answered as soon as possible -- register for the message boards, and post your questions there, where we have more active volunteers and other site users who can help. Questions for this section should be less immediate, and not crisis-based.
  • All questions you post here will be published to the site and publicly viewable: by posting a question you acknowledge you give us permission to do so. We may edit questions for grammar, clarity or length. We do not answer questions ONLY by email: if you enter a question and ask we do so, we'll just delete your question. If, however, you would like your reply ALSO sent to you via email, just include your email address for us in your post. We'll edit it out when we publish your question and our answer, but will gladly email you a link to our reply.
  • Be specific: the more specific your information is, the more accurate and on-topic an answer we can give you. Write clearly: please don't make us have to try and translate a bunch of netspeak -- use standard English, please, and write with proper grammar and punctuation. Questions which are written so unclearly that we cannot read them will be deleted. Please don't be crass or crude: ask your questions with maturity and intelligence.
  • We make no guarantees as to how quickly questions will be answered, nor that every question will be answered. Please check the existing questions and answers and the whole of the site first using the search function or the tags to be sure a question just like yours or similar to yours has not been answered already: questions which have already been answered on the site will not be answered again.
  • Questions posted here will be published on the site when they are answered. In order to see if you've received an answer, check back on the sexpert advice index: newly answered questions will appear at the top of the page. While we will edit any information that appears to identify you (such as email addresses or last names), understand that if you do NOT want a question to be posted on the site publicly, you should not submit a question to the site.

We ask that adults over 25 please ask their questions elsewhere. We provide Scarleteen without the sort of resources adult sexuality sites have, and so we prefer to serve our userbase - primarily people between the ages of 14 and 24 - who are in greater need of sources of accurate information, and for whom there are far fewer resources. As well, questions pertaining to many older adult issues - for instance, older age-related sexual problems - just aren't very relevant for your readers. Thanks!
