If you do, we'd love to hear you say more about this in the comments!
I think the representation of sex in the media is very inaccurate. Females do not always orgasm like they do in hollywood movies!! It is perfectly normal not to orgasm and have multiple screaming orgasms!
I would certainly include Scarleteen in the totally innacurate category! This site pushes an ideology that is not evidence based. Two kinds of sex ed to avoid 'just say no' type and the 'whatever you feel comfortable with kind' both are ideological nonsense! Scarleteen is the latter. By the way who pays for Scarleteen?
Scarleteen is independent media, not mainstream media.
I disagree that all sex education can fit into those two poles or binaries, but by all means, if we were forced to choose just one of those two options, we'd likely fit better into the latter rather than the former. However, even that is a poor fit, as our content on consent and sexual/relationship abuse/assault, sexual health issues and other topics makes very clear. If all we had to offer was "whatever you feel comfortable with," it'd be mighty silly for us to have the thousands of pages of content that we do and to invest the kind of time we have into providing what we do over the last 13+ years, don't you think?
What we do is actually fact-based here, both on the scientific study of sexuality and sexual health, and based on what we can glean from the many, many users we speak with in-depth; and the information we glean from them typically tends to square with what you'll see in formal studies of teen and young adult sex and sexuality when you read them. What we do is also in alignment with sex education standards put forth by organizations/groups like SIECUS and the UN who absolutely do exhaustive reviews of sound study -- the evidence you're seeking -- in establishing their guidelines.
Scarleteen is primarily supported by private donations: we do not and have never received or sought any federal, state or other public funding.
