I started pulling hair out of my head about a year ago around exam time. I used to always twirl my hair, but when I get frustrated I'll pull one or two out. The worst part about it is (as much as I hate to admit it) it feels really good, is relaxing, and calms me down.As exam time is once again nearing, my hair pulling has picked up again. This year was definitly worse with AP exams and SATs. I know this is a serious thing, but I don't have any bald spots on my head yet. Do I tell my parents about this and try to get an appointment, or just tough it out until the school year is over? Last summer I was able to go through most of it without a relapse.
Next year I'm going to be a senior. I definitely want to get this straightened out before college (along with some social anxiety issues my parents are aware of). I don't want to come off as a complete mental case though and stress my parents out. So, should I make an appointment now (and not get seen until summer when I'm no longer pulling), or wait until it starts up again?
Thanks so much! I love everyone at this site- you guys ROCK!
