I just wanted to give a shout out to some really cool people.

My favorite contemporary physicist is Lisa Randall, an expert on particle physics and cosmology, currently on the Harvard faculty. I highly recommend her book "Warped Passages"!

The most brilliant mathematician I have ever met was a 20-year-old girl who taught one of my math classes whenever our professor was out of town. Imagine substitute-teaching for a Harvard professor! Now that's amazing.

I could go on and on about amazing scientists and mathematicians who also happen to be women. I originally was going to call this post "cool women!", but then I realized, "Why should it matter that these people are women? They'd be cool even if they were males, hermaphrodites, or sexless!"

[I'm posting this since I was recently angered by a friend who asked me, "Isn't it tough being a girl studying physics?" It was a friendly question, but it made me secretly angry, since I don't think that being a girl should make physics any harder then it already is!!!!]
