I am really horrified by this article from yahoo:

I don't really know what else to say because I am just so appalled. The thing that makes me most angry is this: some of the people who replied to that article saying that they are happy about the anti-abortion policies because it's "morally right" make separate posts stating "Let the Africans die" and "Isn't Darwinism a wonderful thing." I want to puke.

I think it's interesting that even clinics that only promote abstinence are being forced to close...

I think that that is down right ridiculous... I mean... the Bush administration is spending 87,000,000 dollars on the War in IRaq so that they can go out and kill innocent Iraqis who have been standing by and trying to live their lives under a horrible man simply because they get caught up in the cross fire... THEN on top of killing innocents in a war we have NOTHING to do with, we're killing others by not giving them information about the spread of diseases GRR...

Killing American civilians trying to make a living isn't exactly cool in my books either. While I don't agree that war is the answer to everything, I also think it's really unfair to smear folks who are trying to defend their country, and its citizens. Any Americans who are out to kill innocent anyones are criminals, and we have law enforcement officers to deal with them. Please respect the feelings of those of us who have loved ones in the military, are in the military ourselves, and/or have concerns about accuracy and fairness in reporting, and stay on topic by letting this issue drop, or starting it in its own thread (preferably on a board that deals with general politics, not just ones relating to sexual issues.

**Remember what I said about staying on topic?**

Anyway, this shutting off of funds appears to be a general isolationalist policy and not one with particular ideological ambitions with regards to abortion. This would be perfectly reasonable if say the money were put into other funds, perhaps with other UN health programs allowing it to be distributed by an international body.

But I suppose if money is tight, and the boys need more weapons, those internationalist policies will just have to wait.
