I realize that this might not even directly affect any of the users here, but I find it disturbing. Insurance doesn't cover abortion for these women, and if Bush's plan goes through, it won't cover contraception. This angers me; essentially it would mean that the government is putting pressure on its female employees to choose between not having sex or having children.
And I wouldn't be surprised if, despite all this, Viagra was covered.

And you can rest assured that if a similar medication for women comes along, it not only won't be rushed through the FDA like Viagra was (while RU-486 sat on the shaelf for YEARS), it will *not* be covered.
I wish I could say this suprises me, but it doesn't. Bush's stance on women was pretty darn clear from the get-go. And the hypocrisy here is also no surprise either -- many with a pro-life stance also do not support contraception. You know, as much as I'd hate it, I'd have more respect for his whole agenda if he'd just come out and say that women should be baby factories or nuns.
Perhaps Scarleteen could set up some sort of American refugee program for women from here to go move in with users in Canada and Europe if things continue to go this way?
LOL. That would be fun (wonder if anybodies thought Canada should join the European Union). Can you imagine the great publicity that would be... "Americans flee Bush's US for more Liberal climes!" I would not suggest coming over to Britain quite at this moment though, popular opinion (not mine) is set against immigrants. In fact if it werent for the constant stream of immigrants this country would be dying as it tends to be those that fight to get here, that tend to thrive here. The asians that arrived in the middle of the last century are today's lawyers and doctors. Furthermore, Britain is half way between Europe and America, so there is still plenty of right wing people in here (we have had right wing governments for 20 years). Fortunately, they are not as right wing as Republicans (but democrats are pretty right wing by our standards). If you want to get into Britain, you have to demonstrate that you intend to work or you "donate" a million pounds to the Labour party funds.

The men would be very welcome here. We have our very own Sarong Party Girls who adore white men.
It is a tiny place but you can walk around at 4am and not care about being mugged or raped. There's tonnes of food. Wonderful food I might add and we don't like Bush very much. Judging from newspaper reports that is.
And for people like Heather who are freezing away, the average temperature here is 30 degrees celsius.
As I get bombarded with coverage about, and prepare to attend the Summit of the Americas next weekend in Quebec City, I have to say confused boy, that I would love to see Canada join the European Union right about now.
The common market is definitely the way to go, rather than the hemisphere wide "NAFTA on steroids" trade deal that's brewing for us right now.

First let me say, what an idiot! Second, that's a horrible thing to do! Is he trying to overpopulate the earth, give people STD's and get every kid pregnant?? Does he think that taking away(in a sense) contraceptives will stop [kids] from having sex? Yeah, right! grrr...makes me mad, guess this was more of a vent!

The ironic thing, as Miz S stated, is that drugs like viagra will *definitely* remain covered for federal employees. Lord knows that old white guys should have the government supporting their naturally inept little penises, while women, of course, have to shoulder the complete burden of protecting themselves against the activities of aforementioned.
Ok, rant over, but Bush is just greasing the wheels for a quick slide out of office at the end of his 4, dark years. I'm counting the days.
