It's Women's History Month and I found a blog that is posting about some mighty cool women. Almost all of them are new to me but they've done some rather important things and are worth reading about.

Sybil Ludington
Rosetta Wakeman
Mary French-Sheldon
Ada Lovelace
Madame C. J. Walker
Virginia Apgar
Lee Miller
Willa Brown
Amelia Bloomer
Sojourner Truth

This is a fine time to talk about women and their accomplishments; is anyone doing anything to honor a woman who has made history?

Sally Ride - and Valentina Nikolaeva Tereshkova, her Russian equivalent.

I'd also put in for Dorothea Dix, head of nurses for the Union Army during the war, and Susan and Elizabeth, both of whom I have great admiration for.

I first took a women's history class in college. Before that, I never realized the lengths women went to secure suffrage in the 1910s and earlier - the arrests, beatings, hunger strikes, constant degredation.
I think all women should be aware of that aspect of our history as women.

Here's one woman I like to bring up per women's history that few people often know about: Victoria Woodhull.

A few more for today (I could do this gladly for weeks):
Fannie Lou Hamer
Mary Harris Jones, AKA "Mother Jones"
Ada Deer
