Natually I'm a dark blonde/light brown, but the rust in my water has turned the back of my hair this nasty orange color. Only the lower half of my hair is turning orange since it's older and more damaged. What can I do about it? Anyone else have this problem?
any chance you could distill water for hair washing? or buy gallons of distilled water? if not, this is a shot in the dark, but maybe some gentle acid (like lemon juice or white vinegar) mixed with your tap water might break up the rust in the water so that it doesn't discolor your hair so much (the side effect is that acids can lighten your hair)? or maybe water softener?
