Hey guys! I just wanted to know what you guys are scared of, you know like your afraid of hieghts or whatever.

Im afraid of death, just because I dont know what it really is, you know what I mean? What happens after you past on? Nobody knows but those who left us. I wonder if it will be a scary experience or what? I wonder if it will be like the movie "Ghost" I love that movie, but everytime those scary guys come to take the bad guys away, I shut my eyes and cover my ears until someone tells me they are gone.

Also Im scared of getting a disease/Cancer. I feel so terrible for anyone that has one, and the pain they are going thru, I wish there was no such thing as hurt. If nobody got hurt it would be wonderful!
THATS WHY MIZ S. AND ALL THE SEXPERTS SAY WEAR A CONDOM, and be smart and have safe sex!!! No glove No love!!

So tell me what are you scared of??

Im really afraid of bugs, especially worms. I have all sorts of nightmares about worms crawling all over me; I get freaked as all heck when that happens. I dont know why, there isnt reallly logically a reason to be afraid of bugs, being that they are so much smaller than me and dont really have that much power to hurt me. Whenever I think of worms though, my skin crawls!!! They are the grossest and scariest things in the world.

used to be:
sociophobia, socialphobia - society, friendship
agoraphobia - wide open spaces, public places

now (+ always):
alektorophobia - chickens... actually most birds with scary beaks, like
ostriches, vultures, turkey's.....oh my goodness they FREAK ME OUT!! Ducks are okay, and like parrot kinds of birds, but just thinking of those big wings flapping--ahhhhhhhhhhh! Have you ever seen those really really ugly looking duck-like birds that stand in hundreds in large grassy areas? Those are sooooooo scary!!

I have THE worst fear of the dark! I know I'm a teenager and all, but I can't stand to be in the dark alone. I don't know it must be my theory that if it's dark, then you can't see therefor anything could be in there with you. I try to avoid walking home in the dark as much as possible. It's stupid, I know. I'm also pretty afraid of getting diseases (like AIDs or HIV) or having to get surgery.

I'd have to say that my worst fear is that my boyfriend will get Hodgkin's Disease (cancer) again. He's only 17, and last March he was diagnosed. He went through chemo and radiation, and he just recently went into remission last August. The sad thing is, it could come back...and that is something I hope, wish, and pray will not occur ever again. It is a VERY HIGHLY curable disease, and the prognosis is good..but I am still horribly terrified.

The thing I'm the most afraid of would have to be escalators. I know that probably sounds absurd to be 19 and be scared to get on an escalator...especially as much so I love going to the mall. But I'm absolutely terrified of them! I've been that way since I was little, and I still have dreams where I'll wake up all sweaty and screaming at the top of my lungs (and I don't mean in the good way! )! I can get on the and stuff...I'm just always aprehensive, and I have bad dreams about them.

You aren't alone, Kitten. I got over that when I was about 25. I saw a Gahan Wilson cartoon (the cartoonist for Playboy in the seventies and eighties) of people being eaten by one when I was a kid and it stuck FOREVER. I still tend to hop off them one step before the bottom.

I am, however, still claustrophobic. Always have been, and I'm guessing I always will be. I've finally gotten okay with flying, but that took years, as being in a tiny tin can with so many people near me and no way to air made me totally nutty.

There is no such thing as a stupid phobia..! Fears and phobias are very real, and I'm sure you know, can be very intense..

Hang in there..

I'm sociophobic. But I'm really afraid of people. That may sound odd, but it's just so weird... I mean, there are other living, breathing creatives thinking about me, doing things, etc. They're there and I don't know... It's really hard to explain. People scare me for various reasons. Is anyone else here like that?

Oh, and that was a long list of phobias!

I used to be afraid of the dark. I used to be afraid of a lot of things. I think what scares me the most is being alone. Like in a large group of people. ::shudder:: But things just tend to bother me a bit. Not really scare me at all. Hmm. I think the coolest sounding phobia is Triskedectaphobia. I think thats how it's spelled. But it's the fear of the number thirteen. Heh.

I can't be scared of death--I've already been dead. Darn allergic reactions.

Scarlet honey, get out of my brain! I was terrified of escalators until I was about 18 -- same damned Gahan Wilson cartoon.

I get squicked by big crunchy bugs, but can be depended upon to kill them if I have to. Another squicky thing for me is other people's saliva or spit -- makes my stomach turn, and so whenever someone looks like they're going to spit in public, I have a momentary panic.

Otherwise? Heights, sometimes... and burning. I enjoy fire, but have a terror of being burnt, perhaps because when I was about 14, I got third-degree burns across the entire palm and inner fingers of my left hand in an accident in a chemistry class at school. Ever since then, I have occasionally had nightmares about being burned alive or burned at the stake. *shudder*

How come your afraid of dogs? Bad experience?

I have two phobias,
Aracnophobia
Claustrophobia

If you confine me where I can't move or break free, I have a panic attack.

If anything, I'm a necrophobic. Probably because I've had so many deaths in my family.
More than most people do, anyway!

My biggest fear is someone murdering me! Sometimes at night I have nightmares and I'll wake up shaking and then not be able to sleep because I keep thinking that someone is downstairs planning on killing me. It's something that I've had for a while, no clue why, but it's a very real fear to me.

Wont even bother to try to spell it here but that 1 about having an erect penis showing thru ure pants in public is definately 1 i suffer from on occasion. Oh and almost ne sort of shifty looking animal that looks potentially dangerous: including large dogs, snakes, big spiders. Not cats tho. They seem somehow nicer despite being ruthless rodent disembowlers.

I find it interesting, though, is that there's a fear of open or large spaces, and not just enclosed areas!

Call me a wimp, but spiders are one of my biggest phobias! Doesn't matter if the spider is tiny or huge, if it's on the wall, floor, etc and moving, I jump and yell "Spider!" LOL! Not only that, but I CAN'T kill 'em! I have to have someone else do the killin' for me! Hehe!

I have a bizarre -- well, I don't know if it's actually a fear -- of being upside-down. I'm not afraid of it per se, but I freak out when it happens and do my hardest (this is not a conscious choice, I might add) to right myself. I've always been like this. Really limits the choice of roller coasters I can ride.

I USED to be afraid of a lot of things.

I got over my fears of heights, flying, the dark, bugs, my house burning down, death, funerals, and a few other things as I got older.

I'm still scared of roller coasters and down escalators...LOL, don't ask!

I'm afraid of bees and stinging insects, really crowded places, toll booths, and right-hand or left-hand-turn-only lanes. My boyfriend got a kick out of the last two.

Nah but seriously, the toll booth thing is from my fear of driving my car through narrow spaces...and the turn lanes is about being lost and panicked because I couldn't go the right way...

Oh yeah, I'm also terrified of hemmorhagic fever, being embarrassed, and I had a serial nightmare about being stalked by Peter Forsberg of the Colorado Avalanche (that man is SCARY lookin on a poster when your room is semi-dark)...

add to that.

i am terrified of being stuck in the bathroom during an earthquake.

an earthquake just hit about half an hour ago. 5.2 centered about 100 miles from where i am. It was nothing more than a strong sway. scary, but didn't so much as rattle the dishes on the dishrack.

luckily, i got out of the shower about 10 minutes prior to the tiny temblor.

If it makes you feel any better, a 15-year-old BruinDan got caught in a temblor while showering back in '94. A Northridge aftershock nailed us about two weeks after the initial shock, we had our water back by then. I knew what it was immediately, and had no clue what to do. Running out naked didn't seem so intelligent as it was cold, and staying in didn't seem so great since I couldn't maintain any balance.

In the end I just rode it out in the confines of our teeny shower. I bounced to and fro but wasn't hurt at all...my brothers figured I was safer in there than they were, with dishes flying out of cabinets towards where they were sitting at the dinner table.

Heh, I'm scared of being in an earthquake period, although I'd like to feel a light little one sometime just for the experience (I was half asleep for the only- very tiny- one I've been in)- but the idea of anything bigger completely freaks me out whatever room of the house I'd be in- probably due to the fact that I've never been accustomed to it. Good old seismically stable Sydney.

I share the fear of dogs too. I'm better than I used to be, but sometimes I even get tense around harmless little puppies.
