Hi, so I understand from my previous post that there was NO risk.
My girlfriend just got her period, and I'm freaking out because she says its light (small patch of blood on her pad) and doesn't have any cramping.

However, she says sometimes she gets periods like that and say that it is completely normal. Is there any chance this is implantation bleeding ?

And could any kind soul clarify with me what implantation bleeding is how it it actually looks like.

I've read that the girl should know her body the best, and know if there are any irregularities and that if the period looks feels the same, it most definitely is a period ?

If you understand that there was no risk, then there is no reason to doubt that this is a period. Especially if your girlfriend is saying that she has had periods like this before, and this is nothign out of the ordinary.

That's a relief.

But could you clarify what the difference between spotting and a light flow is ? Or are they actually the same thing

Spotting is simply a term for a very small amount of vaginal bleeding.

i've read on last post on the implantation bleeding sticky that says something along the lines of "Implantation Bleeding is spotting not a flow" so does that mean that even a lighter menstrual flow is not considered to be spotting ?

There isn't a scientific dividing line for what term to use for exactly what kind of bleeding [Smile] But generally, someone might use "light flow" to describe a small, on-off flow, and "spotting" to mean one or a few spots or dots of blood.

This sounds like it's still about your worry. Again, please remember that
- if there was no activity that has a pregnancy risk, implantation bleeding is impossible because implantation is impossible
- someone will know what their usual period is like, and whether their bleeding is like their usual period.
