I'm not sure of the actual number off hand (I will have to check), but I know that 4 is way low, especially if you are going to count the sleeping hours.
Nah, that's normal. Lots of men, and particularly teenagers, will get erections many times a day for no real reason at all. Almost all men get erections in their sleep, too. It just happens. Usually it gets hard, then goes away after a little while.
Just goes to show you that having an erection doesn't mean you want to have sex... or are ready for sex. Men can get erections without even thinking about sex, and it happens all the time. They go away if you ignore them.
In fact, having erections unconsciously, without any external sexual stimulus, is one of the ways that doctors can help diagnose erection problems -- they can hook men up to a gizmo that measures whether or not they're having erections in their sleep. Erections during sleep are so common that if a guy doesn't have any erections while he's asleep, doctors can usually assume that something's physically wrong with the plumbing. It isn't just a boner, it's a good sign that everything's working!
Are you kidding? My boyfriends penis is constantly hard! I spent a whole day and night with him, and that sucker must have came up like 20 times!!
