hey everybody, I've been cruising around here and noticing a lot of lists of firsts, but one thing I never noticed was the first time you DANCED with someone.
I did not enjoy my first few elementary school dances. We had "snowballs" and it seemed like i was always picked as a starting couple for the slow songs. Then you had to put your arms awkwardly on a guys shoulders and shift back and forth, when they called snowball, you had to find a new guy and try it again. I didn't know how to dance for a fast song, but after a few times being dragged out on the dance floor I loved it. What were your first experiences on the dance floor?
Now I dance every chance I get. I love partner dances with a bit of structure, I guess it would be called social dancing. I love Latin dancing even if I'm not very good at it. I love folk dancing of any sort, because you aren't dancing with one person you are a team of 8 or maybe more. What do you consider dance? When do you participate?
I like to dance with my boyfriend, but I also dance with anybody else who asks/ says yes when I do. My dad/uncles/aunts taught me how to dance and it's always good to catch up up with my cousins at a wedding when we are on the dance floor. Socially/culturally who are you "allowed" to dance with?

Socially,I dont think that there are any boundaries as to whome to dance with! I guess its more about what style you are dancing (if u know what i mean :|) As for culturally...hmmmm... My first experience? I have it on videotape It was on our new year part/bash...and oh my freaking gawd i was horrible! But i got the price for most enthusiastic soww...go figure!

I didn't go to any school dances until the 8th grade, where I would mainly dance in a big clump with all of my female friends. I once had a very brief, awkward slow dance with my crush of the time, who was clearly not very interested in dancing with me, and another with a fairly random guy at my school.
In high school I only went to three dances, and I was usually either dancing with casual friends or with a date who didn't actually like to dance. It wasn't until college that I actually attended a dance with a date who enjoyed dancing. I really love dancing, though I am not at all experienced or good at structured social dancing - I just kind of get out on the floor and bounce around happily. I am happy to dance with any friend or friendly acquaintance, I just love getting to dance with people.
