As I'm sure you're all aware, the great V-day is nearly upon us. Whether single or partnered, whether you celebrate it or not, I decided to make a bit of a fun thread for everyone here.

I'm reminded every year at this time just how well most (if not ALL) of the v-day poetry DOESN'T reflect me or my relationship. "We kissed tenderly under the stars"? No thank you!

So I decided that this year, I'm going to write my OWN poetry for valentine's day. A poem that really expresses the way my relationship really goes.

I invite you all to do the same! This is not limited to people with partners; valentine's day includes self-love in my books. And do not fret if you think you're not a good poet; this is just about having fun, not writing the world's best verse [Big Grin]

So put on your thinking caps and write a good poem that really represents you!

I'll start [Smile]

A Tale of Two Lovers

We lie under the stars
Wrapped in our love
Not a care in the world
You lean over and
Stick your finger up my nose.

We sit on a park bench
Hand in hand,
Ice creams on a warm day
A small child sees us
And cries.

Lying snuggled on the bed
Warm and tender kisses
And together we
Have a farting competition.

Speaking softly
We laugh, oh we laugh
You tickle me
And I punch you.

You say jump
And I say?
“No, YOU jump, shetbag.”

(it's all true, including the child crying. He was jealous of my rainbow popsicle [Big Grin] )
As you can see, it's really not about writing well [Razz]

Any form is acceptable; free-verse, limerick, haiku, you name it!

Your turn [Big Grin]

This one's about my partner and is deeply soppy

You're in my thoughts, waking and sleeping
I can't stop remembering your tenderness
You're a beautiful song, you're a work of art
You're a poem that someone wrote from their heart like this one
But much much greater that that

You're principled, and you're funny too
and you make me wanna do it like bunnies do
and whenever things are difficult
I think about you resting your head on my chest
and me stroking your hair
Our bodies against each other
Your warmth, your hands caressing me
and then everything's ok

This one's about self lurve/love/lovin'/loving

So someone invented the term fret wanker
and it's meant to be an insult aimed at prog rockers
whatever
I reckon I'll continue to jill off and play the guitar
Because strumming those strings is delightful
And I thoroughly enjoy playing with myself
It's totally awesome and it's good for my health
All I need is a tube of lube and a room to myself and I'm away
feeling so joyous and happy and glad to have a body that I know that I can face the rest of the day
And write more free verse poetry of questionable quality
But it's self expression and it's fun, just like masturbating

Always knock before entering my room when I am in there alone, as I may be doing all sorts of wonderfully thrilling things that I'd rather you didn't see.

This is actually a rap I wrote for Valentine's Day, but it is more of a profession' of love. But it can second as a poem I guess.

Song: Professin' and Confessin'

This battlefield of love
Is what I want us to be in
I ain't givin up the feelin
that I couldnt be livin
without you in my vision
being the best of my decisions
My heart goes into this mission
the unique depth of my soul
reaching my, maybe your goal
of seeing us together
cuz it seems for the better
Wanna be your sun setter
see the stars and night sky
This is what I do to try
Not anonymous
but just synonomous
and not autonomous
I need your romance
Give us a chance
for us to dance
and take a stance
Be all that I can be
I'd travel to the ends of the earth
Hell, even the edge of the universe
My heart is here to stay
cuz it's Valentine's Day
the outlet to say
the secrets that were put away
Here are a dozen roses
Chocolates with a couple doses
of temporary satisfaction
that's today's infraction
Movin' from the surreal
to make this **** for real
with the mutual desires
forget the spark
let's set some forest fires
I can be your serenader
Not the one you saved for later
I don't wanna be a hater
But today's not the day
So forget today and remember everyday
our laughs, our times, the love, the signs that say
Here I am, spittin out words
professin' and confessin'
what's true to me
I can only hope to see
that tomorrow is a we and not just an I
appeasing my infatuations
bringin life to my sensations
I'd do all the cliche things
I'd treat you better than a god
So I'm droppin' my fading facade
we need that big ol' shove
To show what we love
You hit my core by diggin' deep
That's a difficult feat
so will you take this leap?
With me to the unknown
where this music is my home
You give it a better tone
when we can be all alone
I'm climbing the steps of the ladder
that's leading me to
the only thing that matters
reachin' for the light
in the heaven
Love goes above a reason
doesn't matter what the season
I don't want no shallow pleasin'
take it as an abstract
thought, not a contract
You can be my painter
I can be your canvas
Even bring you back Atlantis
Never pushin' with coercion
Be my cardiac surgeon
go ahead and cut me open
so my hidden source is showin'
through my body it's flowin'
and your face is glowin'
you can be my north star
So even when we're far
I can feel your vibe by my side
and then use it to survive
and it's the dreams I'm makin'
From sleepin' to wakin'
define what I'm sayin'
I'm takin' off my mask
For this one moment task
All my words are bleedin' out
sought you out
without a doubt
Don't say a word
my intentions ain't absurd
Just show me how you feel
Cuz this is my end of the deal
