Again with the questions that are so close to being answered in all of the articles, and then skipped over. sigh. im difficult, i know. Okay so if I start my placebos on monday, get my bleed on tuesday and it lasts until friday, ending friday night (and this is normal for me), am i still protected if i have sex on saturday, even though my bleed has stopped and im not taking active pills? I know that you are still protected during the placebo week during your withdrawal bleed, because the pill has already stopped you from ovulating, but then also some women can ovulate closely following their period? is this possible while on the pill? I would just like to know if I should use a backup method on the saturday and sunday after my bleed ends, since i dont start a new pack until sunday night.

You do not ovulate when you are on the pill and taking it as directed, regardless of when you have your withdrawal bleed.

The bleed isn't designed to start on day one of the placebo pills and go on 'till you start the next pack. It's just supposed to start at some point during the placebo pills. For many women, the bleed will start in the middle of the week, or towards the end of the week, and that's perfectly fine, too.

So, as long as you are taking the pills correctly, it does not matter when your bleed ends or how long it lasts, you are still protected from pregnancy at all times.
