ok me and my gf just broke up about a week ago... we are still close friends... she is on the pill and within her last cycle we only went without a condom once and even then i pulled out... i know the pullout is a unsuccessful method but we relied on her bc she has been on it for several months and we havent ever had a problem before... her period was supposed to come recently but all that she has had is spotting for over a week now. i know that she has been really stressed out with work and our breaking up and other things but we dont know whether or not to think she is pregnant can you help us?

Actually, combining the pill and withdrawal, if both are used perfectly, would have given you both 99.98% protection from pregnancy. Even of both were used but both were NOT used perfectly, you'd still have a combined 97.84% effectiveness.

So, pregnancy actually isn't very likely, in either case.

Before you went sans condom, were you both tested for sexually transmitted infections? I ask that because sometimes unexplained vaginal bleeding can be due to infection.

If you were, and know you're both clear, it may just be that her withdrawal bleed is lighter than usual this time around: that can happen now and then. And certainly, the stress of a breakup and work can sometimes create changes in flow.
