This is just a reminder to everyone to please leave this area open for people with actual emergencies. The volunteers and staff make a habit of checking this area first, and if someone posts a non-urgent question here, it can bump down a very urgent post from the radar.

An emergency/crisis may include:

A serious pregnancy/STI risk, though we ask that you please follow the instructions in this sticky BEFORE posting.

Immediate help with a sexual assault

If you have reason to be urgently concerned for your health Such as heavy menstrual bleeding/cramping, less urgent problems during pregnancy, pretty much anything else reproduction-related that doesn't require immediate medical attention, but you're quite worried about.

Domestic/partner violence and/or severe emotional/mental distress but please realize we can only answer so quickly even in an emergency. Anyone who is unsafe in their location or under severe emotional distress should call emergency services if the situation is so bad as to not be able to wait a few hours.

If you cannot even make it through reading this post, that's an indication you need more immediate assistance than we can give. Please call your local emergency services. Even at our best and most staffed, we can't be around at all hours, and you may have to wait a few hours for a reply.

If you don't think you apply to the above, or you feel you can wait in light of your situation, please use Ask Scarleteen if you still want to hear from a staff/volunteer about your problem. If you don't mind or want other users to help you, too, you can choose the most appropriate forum from Scarleteen Central.

Any post made here which does not constitute an emergency/crises will be moved to the appropriate forum in order to make room for the folks who need help most. Thanks for cooperating! [Smile]
