The morning after pill, or emergency contraception, is absolutely NEVER to be used as a regular form of birth control. This is because it has a much higher dosage than regular birth control pills and can cause cycle disturbances and other problems.

It's also less effective, at about an 80% chance of pregnancy reduction when taken as directed. An intact condom is next to 100% protection.

If you don't want to use hormonal methods, you don't have to. There are female condoms and cervical barriers available. Of course, condoms are the cheapest, easiest method to obtain, and carry the least side effects. It is also the only method that protects against sexually transmitted infections.

A partner unwilling to use such a cheap, easy method to protect you from pregnancy and disease is likely not somebody you want to have sex with at all. Given your history you've just posted, do you have trouble talking about/negotiating sexual boundaries and precautions, and need help talking to this partner?

(Also, just an FYI- if you're avoiding birth control pills because of the risk of blood clots, do be aware that emergency contraception pills are made of the same ingredients and also can create a risk of blood clots.)
