My boyfriend and I had unprotected sex on Monday. I took EC almost immediately afterwards. We had sex with a condom tonight (Friday), but the condom broke in the middle without our noticing until we were finished.
Should I take EC again? Or will the dosage I took earlier this week "cover" tonight's unprotected sex as well? Will taking EC twice in such a short period of time effect its efficacy or the severity of its side effects?
I've already scheduled an appointment with my OB/GYN to discuss getting back on regular hormonal birth control.
Thanks in advance for your reply!

Emergency contraception does not provide protection for incidents that happen after you take it.
Taking it twice will not make it less effective, but it can definately increase side effects, since EC is basically a huge dose of hormones. You have had a pregnancy risk, but I suggest you call the pharmacy where you'd get it from and ask them about taking two doses of EC so close together BEFORE you take it.
