well, my friends good friend has been hurting herself for a few weeks now. shes been cutting her wrists, taking pills, smoking a lot of pot. she once overdosed on pills a while ago, but now she started it again. her parents already know. they wanted to send her away, but she begged them to wait till after x-mas. my friend feels like shes gonna keep begging to not send her away and her parents will give in and keep sayin another week. my friend is really afraid that something can happen to her during this period of time. is there anything that she can do? we were saying to tell guidence, but she hasnt been in school. her dad wants her to drop out, since she will be going away soon. but i think it needs to be quick before she does something ...

these are some threads we have on suicide intervention. most of them include keeping a close eye on the person at risk. That's right, watch the person like a hawk, keep dangerous articles (knives, firearms, pills, drugs) out of the person's reach. And if the person acts (tries to attempt suicide or self-injury), call the ER or call the police. It sounds incredibly harsh, but sometimes, the best way to intervene may be to commit the person involuntarily to a hospital.
i ran search looking for phone numbers and sites, but could not find any, so any other mods, please fill us in
and hang in there, good luck to your friend and to your friend's friend.
