I'm 17 in Illinois and I'd like to buy a dildo or vibrator. Can I buy them at a place like Walmart? Will they card me? Where are they even found at in the store? Buying them online is not an option, but I'd really like to get one. Am I better off buying a "personal massager" or something that's actually marketed under sexual wellness? This is the type of thing I want: [edited b/c we don't want to give Walmart any business] Is this even made for penetration? I want something meant for penetration. They never covered this in sex ed, lol.

Federally -- as in, across the united states -- items sold expressly as "sexual novelties" or sex toys aren't something adults can lawfully sell to minors.

However, toys NOT sold that way -- for example, most "personal massagers" are actually some of the most popular vibrators there are -- are things you can buy.

I looked at that link (but I'm going to edit it out after, just because I *really* don't want us to be giving any business to Walmart, one of those most unethical big businesses there is, particularly to LGBT people and its workers), and a toy like that is mostly designed for external (like for the external clitoris) use, but looks like the tip of it could be inserted into the vagina or anus somewhat. It certainly isn't designed to be used for deeper entry, though.

Toys designed for deeper entry tend to be longer, and not have anywhere fluids could get into -- like the connector in the middle of that toy.
