i was just wondering if someone could tell me how the new obamacare policy of contraception and women's health works? i'm so confused. i am on birth control pills now but i would like to use the IUD but with my insurance it was waaaaay too expensive? will i be able to get it for free now? or is that just a myth? will there be a shortage of bcps/iuds because now everyone can get them?

It is a myth that there will be a shortage of contraceptive methods. There are still many many people who will not be able to get them free because they don't have insurance and are not on Medicaid.
It sounds like you do have insurance though. I would suggest giving your insurance company a call and finding out if they will now cover an IUD for you. It is true that insurance companies are required under the new Affordable Care Act to provide contraception without requiring co-pays, but some companies are not compliant with that at this point for various reasons. So, the best way to find out if you can fully benefit from the ACA in terms of obtaining contraception is to speak with your insurance company.

Also? Last I checked, both Mirena and Paragard offer a payment plan for people who want them to pay monthly, rather than in one lump sum.
So, if it's not an option for you otherwise (and do bear in mind that policy changes like these tend to take some time to filter through, rather than being instant), you can look those companies up with a search engine, go to their main pages and check that out as an option.
