I am currently on the COCP Necon 1/35 (generic for Ortho Novum 1/35). I have been on this birth control for a little over a year and a half and I'm quite pleased with it. When I first went on the pill I was on Alesse and had terrible breakthrough bleeding and bloating, so my doctor put me on something more "potent". Although I know that considering I take my pill at the exact same time every day and never miss a pill my chances of it failing are very low, I was wondering that if it were to fail (breakthrough ovulation) when would this be MOST likely to happen? (what week of active pills?) Thanks!

HI Laluna77 and welcome to Scarleteen!

There's actually no way to determine that. There haven't been any studies done, and it would be pretty hard to trace back since the only way one would know if the pill had failed would be if someone got pregnant.

So, essentially, there are just too many factors at play to determine that.

If you are engaging in sexual activity that could lead to pregnancy, you can increase your protection by using a second birth control method.
