Hi, so..the age of consent in my country is clearly stated to be 16 years old for all opposite-sex sexual activity and this pamphlet a police officer gave me states the description to be "The age where a male and a female are legally believed to have sound enough mental reasoning to consent to sexual activity without seeking parental permission."
My girlfriend and I are both 17 1/2 and 16 1/2 respectively, is it legal for us to be having sex?
of course, just because the law says so doesn't mean we should just willy-nilly anyway, we still take all precautions but it'd be a load off my mind to remove the nightmarish thought of either of our parents finding out and us going to jail and being separated.

If your girlfriend is sixteen, and the age of consent in your country is sixteen, then it sounds like the two of you can engage in sexual activity without fear of breaking the law.
