Hello. I'm just wondering what can cause breast soreness especially while running. This is unusual for me at this time in my cycle. It began yesterday which is about 1.5 weeks before my period. I tend to have sore nipples and somewhat sore breasts about a week or so before I get my period (usually when I start the last week of active pills on the pill). What could cause this? Unless I literally could have sex in my sleep and not know it, I have not had sex in over 3 months.

Breast soreness can be from anything, including hormone changes (even small hormone changes), an improperly fitting bra, or even just the randomness of our bodies. Sometimes things hurt or are uncomfortable and we just don't know why.

A lot of things can cause breast soreness - some women find that running or other exercise all on its own (especially without support from a properly fitted sports bra) can cause soreness. Hormone fluctuations are also a common cause, and can happen even if you're on the pill. It may be too that your normal PMS symptoms are just showing up a little bit earlier than normal. Keep in mind that our bodies - as much as we may want them to sometimes - do not always behave the same ways in the same situations. There can be a lot of variation, so, for instance, just because you haven't had breast soreness this far in advance of your withdrawal bleed before doesn't mean it CAN'T or will never happen.

Does that make sense?
