My girlfriend wiped a smear of brown slime 9 different times throughout the day yesterday. This morning she wiped that smear of brown slime again and it was a little bit more. I have been told that this is part of the lining that the uterus sheds. Is this the start of her period since it is so much? Or is the start of the period until the blood flow actually begins? I ask out of curiosity because last month this is it how it started also before the blood flow began.

Yes, this is part of the uterine lining. Periods can definitely start this way. Some periods start differently, and some people find that there periods start differently different months.

So yes, this is normal. [Smile]
