I am currently on the 28 day pack of Junel Fe. I normally take my pill around 10 or 11 every night, but last night I fell asleep before I took it. I know not taking an "active" pill can reduce the effectiveness for up to 3 months, but last night I was supposed to take my last "off" pill. I took it first thing this morning, but I was wondering not taking a pill that you take the week of your period has the same effect on the contraception as taking an active pill does? Thank you.

Three months sounds, to me, like an awfully long time for decreased effectiveness to continue. A more common estimate is that in a pill cycle where pills are missed, THAT cycle will likely be compromised, and if it's less than three pills that were missed, it's unlikely a missed pill in a cycle will impact pill cycles past that one.

However, all of this may be moot: are you talking about missing a placebo (inactive) pill?

In that case, you do not need to worry about decreased effectiveness at all, as the pills you take during the placebo week do not contain any actual hormones. They are place holder pills, designed to keep you in the habit of taking your pills on time.
