Here's a page with all the patient information for Depo-Provera: http://www.drugs.com/depo-provera.html

As you'll note, it advises (as is the case with any medication you're taking) that if you start taking any other medication, to let your doctor or pharmacist know, so they can make sure it's not something likely to interfere or interact.

Otherwise, all you need to do is to make sure you get your injections on time.

Just remember, though, that STIs are just as big a risk as pregnancy, and Depo can't offer you any protection from them, so if you want to reduce those risks, you'll need to also practice safer sex, including using condoms or other latex barriers for any oral, vaginal or anal sex, okay?

Using condoms for those things is what will protect you from sexually transmitted infections, yep! And then you and your partner just want to make sure to pair that with both getting tested for STIs regularly. Once a year is usually fine so long as you two don't switch or add partners more often than that.

so im 16... i went on the depo shot 6 months ago, and I LOVE IT! it deff racks up in the price range, about 160 every 3 months, but after 6 months you stop getting your period! its kinda weird at frist, and to some poeple is scarry, but u have to trust in it. the one thing u shuold know, is that after 5 months, your period because reallllyyy long. mine went from a 4 day period to a 13 day period, and then last month just compleatly stoped and this month it hasnt started. i would go for it if u have the money!

sleepingcuty123, this area of the boards is for staff and volunteer replies only. Too, the effect Depo has can vary from person to person, and so what you experience may not be the same as what someone else will.
