Hello,

I know that I shouldn't really be concerned about this, but being the worrywart that I am, I can't stop thinking about it:
I had my period as normal last month, actually at the very beginning of the month. I then waited for signs that I'm ovulating-I usually have cervical mucus which helps me to pinpoint when I can expect my period to come. This time though I didn't see any cervical mucus, which is strange. That said, I'm having PMS symptoms, such as increased appetite,cramping...I keep telling myself that my period is coming, but then I worry that perhaps it's something else...I haven't had any sexual contact in the past rwo months; the only thing I'm worried about is sperm/semen from the toilet paper or seat, but that would be impossible...I guess, I shouldn't worry so much, but I can't seem to get rid of my anxiety...Should I be concerned? Thank you so much.

You definitely don't have any reason to worry about pregnancy: without any sexual contact since your last period, pregnancy just isn't possible. What may be happening is that you're having a cycle where ovulation just didn't happen, which can occur sometimes. It sounds like you're experiencing all your normal PMS symptoms, so I don't see any reason to be concerned.

Hi again,
I apologize for bothering you again. I know it sounds crazy, but even though I thought that I was having PMS symptoms, they disappeared all of a sudden...I'm getting a little worried because I don't really know what's going on. I have been starting to feel symptoms related to ecoptic pregnancies.I know it's not possible but I can' stop obsessing. The only reason why I'm concerned is that my housemate had his girlfriend over and I'm worried that he touhed himself and left semen on the toiet seat....I thought my last period was normal, but I've rerad that you can also have periods with ecoptic opregnancies. Help!

graycloud,

Given everything you've described, it sounds like there is basically no chance you are pregnant--though you can always take a pregnancy test if you think it will make you feel better.

You can't get pregnant from stray semen left anywhere--sperm are too delicate to survive being transfered on surfaces.

Do you ever have this type of anxiety about things other than pregnancy?

Thanks, atm1, for the reassurance.
I am by nature an anxious person and do have mild form of OCD that I'm trying to manage. I did take apregnancy test to reassure myself and of course, it was negative.
I was just a bit surprised because I haven't seen any cervical mucus around the time that I was supposed to ovulate, which was around mid-June and then I had PMS symptoms 2 weeks later, but then they somehow disappeared, which is really strange and so that's basically why I've been worried.
I then read about ectopic pregnancies and have been feeling some of the symptoms from that: pain in the arm/shoulder and thinking that maybe the period that I had last month wasn't a really period.Once again it could be my mind playing tricks on me, but I still can't seem to relax...

Have you been seeing a counselor for your anxiety? If not, I strongly encourage it. This level of worrying isn't normal and should be addressed by a professional.
