i have a question. i was supposed to get my period on the 28th, like i do every month. thats how i've been for a year. i had sex earlier this month... un protected and i didnt get my period. i bought an at home pregnancy test, it came with three. the first was negative and the second were postive. i started bleeding last night, but it wasn't like i normally bleed. i took two more last night and they were positive and when i woke up i took one and it was also positive, but im bleeding more. im not sure what that means.

The best thing to do at this point is see a healthcare provider as soon as possible, since you have had more than one positive result. They'll be able to confirm the result and look into the cause of the bleeding as well. It could be that you are pregnant but are having a very early miscarriage (which happens fairly frequently) or it could be something else, but again, you need to see a doctor about this.

It's possible but we really can't tell you for sure since we're not doctors. Even if you can only see a doctor on Thursday, can you call and see what they think and suggest?

It might help to know that it's estimated that as many as half of all pregnancies don't go full term and end in miscarriage, and with around half of those, most women don't even know they were pregnant in the first place. Miscarriage is very normal, and while when a pregnancy is wanted, it can be sad or otherwise emotionally hard, it's usually the body actually being very smart.

That said, very early miscarriage will usually look just like a period, because there's not enough uterine lining or fetal tissue to cause heavy bleeding. As well, vaginal bleeding can still happen and a pregnancy can remain, too.

But all of this is very out of your control, so what you want to do is see a doctor, ideally sooner instead of later.
