I just got what I think must be my period (but its.. browner than it normally is). But for a couple of days, I have been feeling uncomfortable, with my labia itching slightly. I have also had a kind of burny pain when urinating. however, I used to get this occasionally when I was younger and it meant I wasn't drinking enough water - or so I was told.
I am just slightly worried this time, as my symptoms seem to match that of Cystitis, but I'm not sure what to do about that...
Can you help at all? Especially with the sensation. :/ Not comfy. : (

So this has been going on for several days?

If so, then I'd suggest going ahead and heading to your health care provider. Burning with urination is a symptom of a UTI. However, the itching would lead me to wonder about some kind of vaginal infection (like a yeast infection or bacterial infection). Overall, this sounds like something you want somebody to look at.

You don't have to see that doctor if you don't want. In the UK, you can get sexual healthcare at a host of different places. Want some help finding out what your options are?

Just FYI, this new piece may give you more info on UTIs:http://www.scarleteen.com/article/pink/dealing_with_utis

Per where you can go, you can go to a GUM clinic, to a Marie Stopes clinic, or can use this NHS directory to find somewhere else local to go: http://www.nhs.uk/servicedirectories/Pages/ServiceSearchAdditional.aspx?ServiceType=SexualHealthService

Very. Usual estimates are that anywhere from one in four to one in every two women will get at least one in her lifetime.

I've wanted to go get properly checked up and things for a while, I know I should get screened and also just generally checked up, but it's not something anyone in my family is very open about, or even does, so I have no idea how to go about getting an appointment for a full kinda.. check up down there, and the kinda rules.. like surely you can't go if you;re on your period? :/ And who do you see? Doctor? Hospital?

Sorry for asking so many questions...

Did you look at those suggestions I gave you already about who to see?

It's okay.

What do you want in your appointment? Do you just want to have this possible infection addressed, or do you want a pelvic exam and pap smear, tests for all STIs, help with contraception....?
