Can you go to Planned Parenthood and go on the pill if you aren't sexually active? I had sex once, but I want to be on the pill just in case and so I can regulate my period. Can they deny me care if I tell them I'm not intending to have sex? One of my friends said they can.

That's not true. Plenty of women use hormonal medications for purposes other than contraception, and Planed Parenthood and other clinics do not require anyone to be sexually active in any way to obtain contraception.

Thanks for clearing that up. I don't know why my friend told me that Planned Parenthood is not allowed to prescribe birth control for medical reasons. I'll have to tell her that she doesn't need to lie to them n order to get it.

She most certainly does not. I don't know where she would have gotten that idea either, save that not everyone IS a good candidate for every method of birth control. So, there are reasons someone may be refused a prescription, but those are health-based, not about whether or not someone is currently having sex.

Honesty with a healthcare provider is also really important. If we aren't honest with providers, providers really can't do their jobs. And if you have something like very irregular periods, by all means, you want to say that so they can do some evaluation as to why. It may be, for instance, that a person's body weight is too low, in which case they're also going to want to work on that for their overall health.
